Creative reveals Fatal1ty-approved Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium {Engadget}
May 16th 2008 9:46PM Upgrading your internet connection is a recurring cost whereas purchasing a dedicated network card is a one-time purchase. I don't plan to stop using the internet anytime soon, so I don't think it's as expensive as upgrading an internet connection. Furthermore if you aren't already on a fast internet connection the card is useless; it isn't magic, it's hardware.
I have never seen the card be marketed towards casual gamers or non-gamers, and I have never seen anyone rate it as that either, so what exactly makes it "overrated"?
It makes a promise and according to dozens of reviewers it delivers on that promise.
Just because a product targets a particular part of the market and isn't useful to every person on the planet with an internet connection doesn't mean it's overrated, it means they are aware of their target demographic.
And Kamokazi, good post. I agree completely.

May 14th 2008 6:14PM This article I read a few days ago explores the question of how many fps humans can see. It concludes with an estimation that for truly lifelike movement it can't be below 500fps. http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm

May 2nd 2008 7:28PM That isn't an actual rig, it's an image made with Photoshop to demonstrate what X-Top technology is capable of. It's capable of supporting over 100 monitors, not just 30. There was a review in April 2007 about this technology, at the website Multi Monitor Information, in fact they used that exact image at the bottom of the article. It's cool news but certainly not new news.

Mar 31st 2008 6:12PM To turn the 4 hour conversion process into around 20 seconds depending on the speed of your hard drive/s use MKV2VOB, it's great. It just muxes the MKVs to VOB containers, so it reserves all capabilities perfectly (5.1 AC3 output FTW)

JVC's build-it-yourself speaker set, but why would you? {Engadget}
Nov 18th 2007 2:39PM zargon is right. Some of the best quality stereos around have small speakers, because if you have great quality little tweeters and a large subwoofer, that subwoofer gives the illusion that those little speakers are huge and have a lot of kick. All of my stereos have little speakers that attach to the walls, but the systems cause earthquakes in China.

Nov 13th 2007 3:13PM MKV files can contain a plethora of different codecs, it is a much more versatile container which I think is why it is so successful. MP4 containers can't yet have AC3 audio which is a big reason to use MKVs, to get that clear, "uncompressed" surround sound

Nov 7th 2007 2:55PM All I want is to simply output 5.1 audio from the XMB, is that too much to ask? It should be simple to code!
