I got to the AT&T store this morning at 4am, was #3 in line. Store personel were absolutely awesome and very helpful. For instance I have a family talk plan with 4 phones on it, my phone was not eligible for an upgrade but another one on the plan was. They let me get the phone on the other account at the discounted rate. Then moved it to my number. The lady was awesome, she even gave me her cell # to call her later to discuss a couple of things.

Now it was not without issues though. For one still not activated like everyone else it seems. Really sucks as I hoped they were really going to resolve this after last years fiasco. But ultimately we are in the same boat, at home with phone praying for iTunes to start working for activations.

Other issue was they had to adjust my family talk plan with a new code that supports 3G or something, same basic price and cost but just a system thing. In doing so they lost my 4000 rollover mins we had accumulated. She said to call her later and they will try to get those mins back for me but couldn't promise anything just yet.

All in all it was a good experience and I give alot of kudu's to AT&T right now, at least the people I dealt with all seemed very helpful and actually all seemed to care about things and wanted to work and do everything they could to get you the phone you wanted and not try to upsale everything to make more money. Not to mention I am very thankful that 3G was finally turned up here on wednesday! whooo hoooo
Someone please create a SSH/Telnet app. Pretty please. Phone is based on a linux kernel, has all sorts of connectivity options, has a built in Cisco VPN client now, has exchange support. All I need is an SSH client and I am set for remote administration. Once Cisco puts out a mobile communicator client for this I might just never go to the office.
My fav has to be the part when he is asking everyone what their occupation is, and then he asks the spartans. It was a simple way of getting a major point across.
I just want one, despite its short comings in certain area I still can't shake the desire to get my hands on one. Spec. side of it is not that impressive to me, but damn if I don't just love the interface.
Actually your wrong about the companies having their own servers not being affected. Yes many, probably most companies do have their own BES servers, but those servers depend on a connection to RIMs servers. Having your own BES does not eliminate RIM from the picture, and thus is an added point of failure.

Smartphones on the other hand depend on the cellular provider connection to phone and internet, and the businesses internet connection and exchange servers.

Blackberries depend on the cellular provider connection to phone and internet and RIM as well as businesses internet connection, BES Server and email server.

Much more can go wrong, but on the flip side blackberry did beat MS to the punch, many companies have already heavily invested into the devices and such and for what it does it works great no doubt and offered many features not available until only recently. The best feature in my opinion that blackberries offer over exchange and smartphones is the built in VPN tunnel to the corporate side of things if you have your own BES server. Closest thing for smartphones is third party client like Netmotion XE.

not sure about the "test first crowd" but I know us smartphone people were pretty happy seeing all the crackberries not working, while our smartphones continued to fulfill our addiction.
I need a phone to stay in touch with my 3 year daughter, since my wife just left me and took her. Also so I can give the number out on a flyer as I look for my dog who ran away this week as well.
Seriously I need a phone to brighten up my week, my wife left me this week and is taking our 3 year old daughter, and my freaking dog ran away on tuesday night! Its a horrible week, please hook me up!

"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
