I'm fairly certain the reason Sony removed backwards compatibility is not so much for the cost of keeping it in, but because it represents a potential revenue stream which requires very little investment: offering re-encoded PS2 games for download for a fee. They've already given us MvC 2 and FF VII. Someday I expect to be able to download RE 4 and all other PS1 / PS2 games for $14.99 each! ;P
Sarah, will you listen to yourself. You sound like a bad parody of a Steve Jobs worshiper, except I guess you're for real. I'm sorry for you and especially for your idol.
All I wanted was a 32 GB Nano Apple, was that too much to ask? Instead you went and stuck a useless camera in it, because apparently my cellphone cam and my Canon SD were not adequate. Thanks a lot. Looks like I'm not buying a new iPod for another year.
To be fair to Patrick, not one of you has disproved the part of his statement where he said the vast majority of them suck. All you did was select an extremely small number of the rare gems that are available for free and did not address the content of the majority of the books offered.

That said, it was pretty dumb of Patrick to say that Netflix offers streaming video for free.
When I first read this article I was very upset, since it appears to indicate that new BDs with Managed Copy will not play on current hardware and that we would all need to buy new players in order to see future releases. However, after about 5 minutes of research I discovered that this is not true--you do not need to buy a new BD player if all you want to do is watch movies. You WILL need to buy new hardware if you want to make authorized copies (i.e. a single backup copy) of your BDs. If, like me and most people who buy optical media in general and BDs in particular, you just want to watch movies from the original purchased disc, this will NOT affect you. Anyways, there is no way in hell that I'm going to connect my BD player to the internet for any reason (including BD Live) so this doesn't affect me at all. However, the day that I am required to access the internet to watch a movie is the day that I begin using torrents.
Paul that was the funniest comment you've ever made...the starbucks line was brilliant :) i just hope you were being tongue-in-cheek and not serious though...
I don't understand the hate for the Studio XPS 16. Dell did an amazing job with it and it is the best laptop I've ever owned--beautiful screen, good weight/size ratio, great power under the hood, speakers I can actually hear, comfortable keyboard. My only two complaints are the glossy screen and lack of any scroll function on the touchpad, but the screen is so bright I can see it without the slightest bit of trouble even in bright sunlight and I use a Logitech portable mouse so even these are practically non-issues. Whenever the shiny black finish becomes too fingerprinted I just take two seconds and wipe it down with a cleaning cloth...no big deal. Also, the leather strip at the top gives excellent grip anytime I am pulling my laptop out of my carry bag and looks great...why all the whining about it?

"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
