This issue existed on Vista. I have repaired 3 systems with this exact problem all running Vista Home Premium. I have not experienced this problem with W7 but it is possible since it's a similar system.

On vista it was due to hangups or overflows caused by event viewer or Windows Defender. They were system causes. It was fixed by deleting all of the event viewer logs or disabling Windows Defender depending on the cause. Often updating windows defender would fix the problem so that you could re-enable it.
Phenom II X4 965 3.5GHz $195
Core i7 920 2.66GHz $288

Less than 10% performance difference.
Over 30% price difference.
Need I say more?

Intel has been raping the market for over a decade. I hate Intel as a business. Their processors might have been great and the i7 might be awesome but at the prices they demand nothing is that good. Not to mention the entire market uses them. I mean if Dell sells the majority of computers in the world and the only processor they use is intel that sounds like coercion and monopolization. Which Intel has been sued for before. Do we really want the government stepping in and dumping on the industry by declaring Intel a monopoly? Sadly I think it's required to get this to stop.

Look at the freaking netbook market alone. The atom is a PoS yet it's taken 99% of the market for laptops and streamlined desktops. That's insane. That's a monopoly. There are alternatives and from what I understand the nano is better yet atom is in everything.
WTF happened to buying PCI cards for things like this? Why do we HAVE to have them on the board. I have like 2 open PCI-e slots and 2 PCI slots. Give me something to put in there like USB3! I won't buy a new MB without onboard USB3 or something valuable. Needless to say I'm now moving back to AMD. I was an AMD fan in the first place but they dropped the ball. Now the Phenom is outdoing the Quad and biting at the heals of i7 at less than half the cost. I blame Dell for Intel's lack of caring. They shove cheap worthless models of Intel processors in their systems and everyone is using the crappy atom and horrible intel graphic sets. Intel has gotten too powerful again.
People barely pay attention to obvious details. "Moved" and "sold" are not the same terms. Also note the increase in products going to Asia. People in America don't have money to buy a mac. This has nothing to do with good products or mac being better than pc or anything to do with the iphone. It's pure and simple there are more foreign shops buying these things to sell on ebay or in shops. Remember the PS3 fiasco? It looked like PS3 was outselling everyone but they were actually just being bought up by everyone in Asia to resell on ebay.

Remember there is a whole world out there. It's not just America and America has no money for macbooks. The iPhone is the only reason Apple's sales are staying alive in America. The reason for that is that the iPhone is the only phone trying to not suck. That and people are fickle and dumb. People buy them without a single clue how to use it. One lady paid me to help her download apps. Obviously the iPhone is not simple enough for the average person.
No kidding. I hate macs but even I would buy a macbook over this. We're talking insane dollar amounts here. The ASUS competitor to the air looked way better than this and if I remember correctly was expected to cost under a grand.
Great idea Apple, repeat the mistakes that helped doom Sony to its current state of near failure.
If any company was to trademark the netbook name it should be Intel. I mean, they do happen to make the only part that is consistently in 90% of the netbooks available right now. The atom is the main component of the netbook and if you're right and Intel owns netbook.com... then there you go. I believe they have more right to the name than some stupid place called Psion. I hate them because they use a ps to spell their name and that sounds trendy. I hate things that try to be trendy.
Anyone else think Apple needs to just shut up and stop? I really am tired of all the Apple threats and complaints about the things people do on the products they own. When a company is on one side of the fence and the entire purchasing public is against them on the other side... it's time for the company to just give in. How long did it take for the SDK? Now multiply that by 10 and that's how long until Apple gives up their stupid protection act.
"Winner will be chosen randomly. The winner will receive one Kodak M820 digital photo frame. Approximate value is $70."

But I want the Radeon!
They all come with a slip case. Oh and a glossy screen of death. I hate glossy screens on laptops. I still prefer my Samsung NC10 over everything else. However, this will all be worthless when the Ion comes out. Sorry my brand new netbook, but you'll probably be replaced in 6 months.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
