So, as I have said multiple times...HD DVD was and IS the technologically better format. The only thing Blu-ray had over HD DVD is the capacity. How many blu-ray movies use the full storage capacity? Hardly any (they might be on a big disc but chances are they don't use it fully). Heck, some movies that came out on both formats had MORE features on the HD DVD version than on the Blu-ray version.

HD DVD had all the features from day one and they didn't need to have any updates and when the did get upgraded all the HD DVD players had ethernet ports to easily upgrade. The ony blu player that can do this is the PS3 (smart move on sony's side but not everyone, like my dad, dosen't even think about getting a "gaming console" to play movies)

I would change the fact the blu-ray won. I would have gone to Microsoft (if i was Toshiba) and pushed them to go after movie companies to "win" over their support. Microsoft could have done this very easily. Dosnen't matter if they would have put the player in the 360 or not (it would have helped but...)

Anyway, wished HD DVD would have won. I do own a PS3 for blu-ray only (no game interests me) and I do not plan on replacing my HD DVDs with Blu versions. I may buy another HD DVD player as a backup when they come down in price even more.

Sorry for the length, if you read this all the way through...thank you!

Recap: HD DVD = better in every way besides disc size. Players were/are more advanced and are easier updated.

Glad war is over though!
I love HD DVD...P.I.P. comentary from day one...ethernet port for updates and online disc use from day one...combo format (HD and DVD so they could be used on standard dvd players if used elsewhere) from day one...and the list goes on.
While I hate to see it go (I was an early adopter so I have a good collection of HD DVDs) it is nice to see this thing coming to an end. To see blu-ray win is a let down considering they are just barely getting into the P.I.P. and the online use and on top of that there is only ONE player with ethernet for updates *PS3* (which I do have just for blu-ray). They weren't the first to do anything they basically got everything from HD DVD. Alas, my blu-ray collection is strong and here's to a Toshiba HD DVD/Blu-ray combo player!
Toshiba...I know you are making this as we speak!
Yep! Tis true! I saw the message today! Can't wait, very excited to se discovery HD!
So, I live in Kirkland, WA and shop at the Bellevue Best Buy and I would have to say that Best Buy favors Blu-ray not HD DVD. I have seen the shelving space for HD DVD dwindle down to 2.5 sections while Blu-Ray has an entire isle. I used to work for Best Buy in Las Cruces, NM and when the HD movies came out HD DVD was outselling Blu-ray hands down and did so for quite some time. I LOVE HD DVD and was hoping it would win since they have done it so well (special features from day 1 have been better than blu) but i also own a blu-ray player (for certain movies) and I too want to say that Toshiba, Universal, Dreamworks, and Paramount need to go blu :( It is a losing battle and they need to move on. All of my HD DVD loving co-workers and friends have said the same. So, unless HD DVD has some major anouncement to turn the war around, I really hope that they will just let HD DVD go and start doing the blu-ray thing. I want a toshiba HD DVD/blu-ray player! (I will not be getting rid of my HD DVDs. I still prefer them and will continue to watch them until they break or something new comes out)
I said the exact same thing when I was online playing the demo with a buddy. I drove by and was like "COMPUSA! What the hell." And my friend was like "What's so funny?" I told him what happened and at the end of the conversation I said "No wonder they are going out of business, they spent too much on in game advertising"
It isn't blowing up because (and this is my opinion) HD DVD fans/owners aren't about gloating. They see this news and basically say, "hm, that's great news" but very rarely do you see them come out and throw it in someone's face. Unlike what I have seen by Blu-ray fans/owners. They seem to flip out whenever there is news about blu-ray. If it favors Blu-ray they go to every forum and bash every HD DVD person, or they tend to gloat. And if someone says what they are saying is wrong, they rip that person about.

HD DVD owners seem more humble and respectful, Blu-ray owners seem more hostile (not everyone, but I have noticed a lot)

I own both but i would say I favor HD DVD and like to read news on when something good goes there way.
You know, I think the grunts would be harder than they look. I mean, anyone can shoot one or smack it with the butt of a gun, but how hard would it be to fist fight one. They are so short it could be hard and who knows, they might have mad fist fight skills!
Check out this forum topic over at bungie.net We have been looking for this skull for awhile and the topic is full of places to look and things to try but has yet to be discovered!

Umm, wasn't the emmys on last week? The Simpsons, and Family Guy premier tonight. Know they aren't "HD" but they look better on the HD channel. You really need to fix this update and get the days right!
So, when did Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 3 come out? It sure is popular!

I am sure they meant Ghost Recon 3: Advanced Warfighter, but I had to comment!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
