Might be a good way to get out of your contract to buy an iPhone...
Satellite (through Directv, mainly for the NFL Sunday Ticket)
I like the poll questions, and I particularily liked the one about our favorite sport to watch in HD: http://www.hdbeat.com/2005/10/06/poll-which-sport-looks-best-in-hdtv/ I liked this one because it let me know that I'm not the only one out there that would really like to see more golf in HD. A few people posted comments about golf and the lack of HD programming. Maybe the networks will take notice and start broadcasting more HD golf, wishful thinking maybe, but I know the day will come eventually. Congrats on the 1000 posts, keep up the good work.
I have to agree, football is king! But (and I may be the only one that feels this way) golf is fantastic in HD. There's just not too many tournaments broadcast in it. I watched the Masters one year in HD (commercial free too!) and you just find yourself noticing so many details - the spike marks on the greens, the dimples on the ball, each blade of grass, not to mention the beautiful landscaping and scenery that Augusta is known for. It really makes you feel like you're there.
I will finally be purchasing HD equipment because the NFL season is here. I've been waiting for DirecTv to do something about the mpeg2 - mpeg4 format switch, but with football season fast approaching I've decided I can't wait any longer. The NFL is my main reason for wanting HD.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
