HTC Advantage X7510 gets unboxed, still baffles us {Engadget}

May 5th 2008 10:30AM I have one and use it all the time. If you dont think it fits your needs, then dont buy it. What is this deranged obsession among technophiles with INSISTING that others MUST justify WHY they use the devices they use?

I chose it over something like an EEE b/c I get 7+ hrs of bat life and it is a lot smaller (the EEE gets lousy bat life and is big)

I frequently have it in a jacket pocket (sport coat or over coat) or sometimes in a pants pocket if Im wearing casual pants. (Amazing that people even need to challenge your WARDROBE decisions in threads like this)

I dont feel the OS is "unusable" and I dont pine for Mobile Linux at all, but if you do then, again, this device isnt for you.

The elitism and cultishness of tech blogs is really just amazingly narrowminded and obnoxious. I remember when people who were into tech just got together and focused on what WAS cool about a device rather than DARING someone to suggest they like it.

The Advantage certainly isnt a device designed to take the world by storm and the goal from HTC is to address a niche, not to tackle the iPhone. Why does that seem to bother so many of you ("columnists" included) everytime a device like this gets released?

Apparently, they did manage to sell a few since they refreshed it right?

No 'Fantastic Four 3,' Says Johnny Storm {Cinematical}

Mar 20th 2008 7:46PM No one is saying the FF movies had to be "dark". Where are people getting that?

They just need to not suck. The team is by no means lame. They just appear lame to people now because those movies were so monstrously bad.

The FF comics always had some wise cracking humor and they are an iconic Marvel team. There is NO reason why it shouldnt be possible to achieve Spiderman level quality with the FF. The movies were just horribly written, brutally miscast (note to producers - there are plenty of movies you CAN use J.A. in - her appearance in FF is just beyond ludicrous) and nearly empty of any redeeming quality.

People keep saying how "of course it doesnt please hardcore fans" and "there are always nitpickers" Well, these movies are primarily MADE for the fans. I accept that some folks loved these movies and that is their perogative, but the fact that there will be no more of them is very telling.

And none of this is a reflection on Evans. He was really the only good thing about the movies and was perfect, IMO, as Johnny Storm.

Sizing it up: MacBook Air vs. the rest {Engadget}

Jan 16th 2008 10:45AM Sony releases the X505 and the world doesnt care, press doesnt cover it, life goes on.

Jobs grandstands, claims "worlds thinnest laptop!" (doesnt add "by .01"") and the world swoons. Sure its 3lbs (Sony's was 1.85), sure it has NO REMOVEABLE BATTERY... But its an APPLE!!!! ITS AN APPLE!!! AND THE WIZARD IS HOLDING IT ON STAGE IN CALIFORNIA!!!!

And the crowd goes nuts. And the press is in love. Talk about a self fulfilling prophecy. To the journalists out there... Are you really not embarassed? Yellow journalism is fully back. Its a club of favorites across the board (not just in technology). If you're on their love list, you can do no wrong and you're all that matters. If you've been deemed uncool or irrelevant, you cant BUY good press.

Its a nice notebook, but its hardly a departure from what Japan has been doing (better and in more variety) for YEARS. Even DELL has a part that is a more compelling package overall.

I know I know... "But those arent MACS and dont run MAC OSX" Yeah. See the problem is that only matters to 100% of journalists and about 5% of real people (Apples market share). OK, now here come the Mac zealots to flame and insist that Apple really has a HUGE marketshare that we just dont know about. If thats so, then lets drag Apple into monopoly court. Oh... didnt think so...

Meizu's latest MiniOne (M8) incarnation {Engadget}

Jun 21st 2007 9:57PM Are Apple fans really this mentally ill? So let me get this straight.. You go OUT of your way to find this thread, so you can stir up BS about "copying" the precious iPhone, and then proceed to rant endlessly ON the thread your cabal has now hijacked about how "jealous" everyone is of the mighty Apple device that NO ONE was discussing until the lunatic Apple fan showed up.

Here's a hint... Some of us real technophiles (you know, the guys that most Apple fans look down their noses at as they sip lattes), just like to see and discuss new gadgets. Oddly enough, thats why we come to ENGADGET. If all you can add is "another CLONE OF APPLE!!!" then PLEASE do everyone and yourself a favor and stick to the MANY Mac fanboy sites where you can all have a nice circle jerk without the nuissance of all those bad "non Apple" products getting seen and talked about.

Jun 4th 2007 2:39PM Im just glad that people like "Sprint Guy" and all of the other highly opinionated geniuses on this thread are able to take time out of their busy day to tell us what exactly to buy (down to the specific device!) and dictate EXACTLY what "the market" will and will not have interest in.

I for one am glad to see different manufacturers experimenting with different solutions on the 'super mobile' space. Not every idea will stick - indeed most wont - but as long as there is experimentation there is movement towards an ideal device.

As for the rest of you naysayers, go wait in line for your "iphones" or keep using your existing laptops and move along. There is nothing for you to see here since you already have all you need and/or could want, apparently, and by the posts here CLEARLY have nothing intelligent or creative to add to the debate on evolving ultra mobile technology implementations.

Cooking Mama: Cook Off highlights Wii Remote issues {Joystiq}

Apr 3rd 2007 10:40PM @jeremyorion

You dont have to counterpoint everything someone you disagree with says. You really think the list of truly solid, full game, experiences on the Wii is that great? Come on... You had to include GODFATHER. A game that is decent at best and exists on every platform.

The most impossible thing about the Wii is that, like Apple, Nintendo is just impossible to critique (even constructively) on the web. The legions of Nintenbots flock out of the woodwork and tear into you for daring to question their religion. Its ironic b/c this generation tends to be so suspicious and cynical of any zealously held ideology, yet happily embraces what is clearly an ideological zealotry when it comes to a handful of companies.

I mean really... An article cant questiont he accuracy of a peripheral now without inciting a riot? What Ive found with the Wii is that people that want/need to love it, for whatever reason, do. People (like me) who go in neutral, tend to find that somethings is just "off" pretty fast. People that fall into the vaunted "non gamer" category that everyone is suddenly concerned with, are clueless and find it fun for like 15 minutes and say things like "WOW! games are so amazing these days! And these graphics are SO Pretty! I remember my

When asked if they plan to buy one, answer is inevitably "no.. I dont have time for games"

I must have had 50 "non gamers" check out the Wii at my urging since Im actually an adult and have generally adult friends who are not gamers.
