Who even boots up their computer anymore? I reboot it sometimes but i never have it off and boot it up. Do people need a fast boot time?
Apple typically does a november refresh on the laptops, will we see it then? I'd like a MacBook Pro with this chip in it and an external optical drive. pwease!!
P.A.Semi is the company that Apple bought last year that makes the cpu's for the normal ipods. S.J. wants them to make system-on-a-chip processors for future ipods, http://www.cultofmac.com/jobs-claims-pa-semiconductor-will-make-iphone-ipod-chips/2082, maybe this is it.
I like how you can take out the dvd drive. I *hate* packing that around in my laptop for the once or twice a month when i use it.
does anyone even use PMP's anymore? doesn't every cell phone work half decently as an mp3 player now?
Just take a look at it, it's Wii balance board technology. Where the balance board uses stress sensors to detect movement, this uses piezo's. Anyone who has used a balance board knows that the 4 sensors can pick up a range of motion over the entire surface. brilliant.
I sit around and actually BROWSE the internet with my webkit based iPhone browser all the time. Clicking on a link in SimplyTweet or in an email will usually lead in my getting off topic and browsing other articles or searching for something. I read a lot of multi-page articles on engadget or ars when i'm on the exercise bike at the gym or on the bus. It's not the same as the desktop but in some ways it's better. I wish i could double-tap to zoom into a column on firefox if i could.
how do these things work? I thought displaylink was a graphics connector format.. does all of the GPU heavy lifting get done by the processor?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
