Sep 5th 2008 11:15AM I got cable internet, pretty nice. Normal speeds are about 18mbps/2mbps, and latency in my area is almost at lan level (games to servers in my area or even NYC are 2-20ms delay, yes, you read right, 2). At least the cable guys in my area use an industrial PDA, less chance of using sharpie on a display.

Jul 17th 2008 11:08PM Dell Ultrasharp 22" (forgot the name, pretty easy to find as it is the only gray one)
Pros:
High dynamic contrast
Great colors
HDMI, DVI, and VGA in (HDMI and DVI are HDCP complient)
HDMI audio out
Built in camera and array microphone
Built in USB hub
Well within your budget
Cons:
No component inputs or RCA inputs
Way too bright out of the box
Needs calibration, whitepoint is too green and not red enough (blue channel is fine)
Will exhibit pink glow at large angles of view

Jul 15th 2008 10:59PM Virtual pixels are a pretty good idea there. Basically a backwards bayer system (think your point and shoot emitting light rather than capturing it). May create some soft spots, but if it's already 52', it can't get much softer anyway...

Jul 10th 2008 10:14PM To keep menus and such, either mkv or mp4 can be used. PS3 fully supports mp4, not sure if it does mkv as well. Sourceforge will be a good bet to find programs that will do conversions for you, but do expect to violate every copyright law in the book. For that reason alone engadget is not the best place to come to for answers.
