Think DISASTER RECOVERY!!!

You have one of these puppies doing on site or remote sync of your companies data...

Hurricane is comming you relocate it to a safe area...plug into your providers net (AT&T) and bring it online...

Hurricane wipes out your corp headquarters...your remote manufacturing chuggs on along...no worries for them...they still have their data/ AS/400 what ever...

I think this is a good idea...

notice it says supply water so I am assuming it is using water cooling at least in the general cooling system.

Actually it looks like a modernized bastard child of The Unimog and the Steyer Puch Pinzgauer

steyer & Unimogs: http://www.swissarmyvehicles.com/vehicles.php

These are awesome and very capable off roaders...

Also let me tell you I am no M$ fan!...

I do like Office, and Visual Studio is slick now...

but they can keep the rest...

I use MS products because I have to.
At Dave D.

They speak with their political pull and law suits and cease and desist...

They have made sure that any item produced from China or other that even remotely resembles their products gets pulled...

I I will use example of the Tri-pod...which yes the name is very similar got yanked and banned from Amazon through Apple pressure...It was a mechanical non click wheel...it just looked like the ipod.

WE created this global market...WE demand lower prices which means mfg outside the US.

Other companies and mfg outside the US can react and copy/ improve/ un-improve on a good product much quicker than we can.

I work in manufacturing. I see it everyday!

We a large US based company cannot scratch our ass in 6 months...in the mean time the off shore mfgs have already redesigned the product, tested and have working prototypes before we have even gotten out of the boardroom on it.

So fact...no Apple has not posted here...
fact ... fan boys do
fact ... I actually like the apple products, just dislike the closed DRM

fact ... apple DOES speak with its lawyers and cease and desist letters.

I fully believe in protecting your rights...

but the "look" should not be...look at cars every mfg has a pickup.

look at computers every mfg has a keyboard and mouse

look at houses every one has a door ohhh... and OMG every one has a basically designed door knob!!!!

WOW!

Get with the program!!!

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!

without imitation we would not have store brand cheerios

without imitation we would not have Dr. Wham or Mellow Yellow, or 5 different brands of RootBeer or Beer for that matter!

Whiskey has many at least 10 different brands!

think of any product segment and you have imitators!

That is what gives us choice!!!

What you think of me...I could give a rat's a$$!

But if apple can't compete globally they should not use their corporate power to stiffle and limit imitation and innovation.

If someone rips off their actual GUI, or the exact workings of the click wheel then yes...they should be stopped.

I will say it again!!!

I am so tired of everyone including apple saying infringement!!!

If that is truly the case what about keyboards! what about mice? what about monitors? what about LCD's? What about steering wheels? what about tires? what about wheels? what about a desk! for christ sakes you cannot have a patent on something as ridiculous as a shape! as long as it is not EXACTLY it is not infringement!

An example, our engineers took a competitors coupling (think CV joint for big stuff) reverse engineered it, changed the size some, and added a "special nose profile" which was nothing more than a radius on the nose) and you know what...no infringement, no lawsuit no nothing!

I am sick and tired of Apple's BS!

Please tell me, explain to me HOW this is infringement!

I say screw the UAW...

What happened to the days that the company got to decide where to build their product?

Screw that! Unions had their place once upon a time...

Unions are why car prices are out of control.

Why should an employee doing the same thing make a bunch more just because he has been doing it for 10 yrs, whether or not he does it any better or faster.

Pay and advancement based upon merit not seniority.
Oooohhhhhhhh!

Pick me! Pick me!

pick me...

you don't want to wake up with your horse's head in bed with you do ya?
Now if they would bring that to the US!!!

Games?? Come on on an ultra-portable...

please this is pointed at execs and consultants that travel alot. I would love to have this to replace my old dying Dell LS.

I want sub 3lbs no optical...who needs it? my 1GB flash is all I need...

GigE would be nice...please spare me the modem...

For those who are gonna say...optical to watch movie...

rip it to a file...

come on 100gb hd... plenty of space... rip a couple of movies prior to the trip....

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
