from what I know, it only happens if you had Guest account enabled (and used at least once) when you had Leopard.
@James Barsby

that's for users of Leopard (and older) who accidentally rename their home folder and everything goes screwy.

Unfortunately, it doesn't help in this case as all your settings, bookmarks, documents, etc. that's stored in your Home folder (and Desktop) is deleted.
And if you don't have a backup...well....you're essentially whitewater rafting with no paddles and oars....in a creek you don't want to be on.

It happened to a friend of mine (who also has a sidekick...so yea...he got a double dose of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chYba6bt4aA )

Even DataRescue2 didn't help as the files were just nuked beyond recognition.
I missed ya, Engadget giveaways!

"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
