Panasonic unleashes a trio of wide angle, 8 megapixelers: Lumix FX33, FX55, and FZ18 {Engadget}

Jul 24th 2007 8:09AM Chris is right, of all the prosumer cameras, Panasonic has the biggest problem with noise, especially at high ISO settings a good 18x camera would be great if they can fix those image quality problems.

New York City to get London-style "surveillance veil" {Engadget}

Jul 9th 2007 6:03PM Note the lack of mentioning face recognition technology which is kind of inevitable and street blocking gates, how long until entire areas are blocked off to free roaming and you need a pass to get into the nicer areas of New York?

Imagine all the roadworks that'll be required to install those gates, New Yorkers are going to LOVE that.

The timing after the failed UK attacks are interesting too...

Sony Ericsson makes K850, W910, W960, others official {Engadget}

Jun 14th 2007 2:56PM I had my hopes up for the K850 but....

No inbuilt GPS?
Still on ancient QVGA screen?
Only 264k colours not 16million colours?
And of course the Sony memory slot only for overpriced Sony compatible memory which is extortionate compared to micro/miniSD

Oh dear :(

Sony Vaio TZ sports 32GB SSD and 160GB disk -- the best of both worlds {Engadget}

May 17th 2007 4:36AM The 32GB SSD isn't fast though, it's slow, outdone by many other drives check the tomshardware benchmarks for yourself, for battery life of course it's nicer.

This is SSD hype for the sake of it.

Creative Zen Vision:M, splayed {Engadget}

Feb 22nd 2006 11:53AM I've wanted a 60GB version of this since it was announced in November `05, but now I want a non-apple version of that touchscreen widescreen ipod... alas I will have wait until next xmas for that, if I'm lucky. Why are apple allowed to hoard and monopolise all new innovation through exclusivity deals?
No competition = slow progress, Apples typical high prices (100% margin on nano's anyone?) and of course no bloody choice!
Will anyone stop Apple's dictatorship of mobile media during the noughties?
