The simple solution I came up with was just to have the car's coil be mounted on a plate below the car, and drop to contact the road surface when placed in park. Parking spots wouldn't need to actually be paved over.
I'm kinda sad, because I had this idea about 5 years or so ago, but couldn't afford the cost to patent. I also kinda figured it was obvious enough that there would be prior art or something.
I still really want access to Voice Control in the SDK. It'd be sweet if turn-by-turn directions could be started with "directions to home" or restaurants could be selected by "what restaurant should I eat at".
Apple won't bother buying nVidia outright if they don't have to. It'd be better for them strategically to just buy a significant chunk of nVidia without taking a majority stake. That said, I think the status quo is still the most likely outcome.
I cant tell you how much I love Scrivener. I use it for tons of different things, but most recently for Bible studies. It is absolutely ideal for this purpose.
Oh no! They killed the express card slot? WHY?!? And an SD card slot? WTF am I going to use that for? I use real cameras, and real cameras use CompactFlash. I do not need a media card reader built into my laptop!!! I really, really do NOT want to get stuck running a USB HSDPA modem. Bring back express card! Don't make me get a 17-incher just for an express card!
To the liberty loving folks, if you get into an accident with my vehicle, and you die because you weren't wearing a helmet, does your family sue me? You can take your helmet off only after the law says eschewing a helmet waives your right and the right of the bereaved to any legal claim. If you're not OK with that, maybe you should keep your helmet on and stop trying to repeal these laws.
I confirmed with the local TW guys that this definitely won't be happening before fall, and most of this bandwidth capping stuff is news to them. Actually, the techs seemed pretty pissed about it themselves, since they also use TW for their own personal internet. They don't have anything at all set up to measure monthly usage for a single customer — right now they can only check aggregate usage. They recommended to me that I use a router with one of the open source firmwares installed on it if I wanted to know my total monthly bandwidth usage. And they seemed to believe that nothing was set in stone yet. Customer response so far has been almost universally negative, with apparently a sharp rise in nasty things being said to tech support. :-P
Pssh, America? I launched a KAP rig in Kenya and got myself hauled away by a big group of security guys working for the Kenya Airports Authority. They drove up in a couple of trucks, and were like, "Get in." Apparently you're not allowed to fly a kite within 30 km of an airport, which by their reckoning is anywhere in Nairobi. Apparently model rockets are also similarly banned. They let me go, but that probably had something to do with me being an American. International incidents are bad for the tourism business I guess.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
