Call of Duty 2
Seems odd that the PR shot is running Media Center 2004 though ;)
Nothing like jumping on these unconfirmed stories and giving your 2c.
#2 Matt -

You might be surprised, but by actively circumventing copy protection AND publishing how to do it, you are breaking the great piece of US law - the DMCA. Sound silly for such a simple idea, but what you are doing is illegal. And if the government pass the proposed chnanges, what you are suggesting could land you in jail for a maximum of 10 years.

Here in the UK, it was only made legal to rip CD's to your PC THIS WEEK. Fair use doesn't seem to exist in real life.

This is just a pointless story ....

I can walk into a store today and buy HD-DVD's - it'll be over a month before I can say the same for Blu-ray. How can something thats not available be cheaper?

Anyway, even at a few bucks less per disc, it will take you a long while to re-coup the difference in the cost of your early adopter player.

This almost makes the Intel Viiv branding look good :)
When I was around 12, I wrote to Microsoft UK saying I wanted to learn more about there products and how they work expecting no more than some typical sales literature or manual. However, I got a lovely response that included thier latest certification training CD and the offer to allow me to sit an exam for free! Through numerous jobs, thats still my number one tale of customer service :)

Mmmm ... its nice to see a corporate body actually go ahead and take a stance on wasting energy. Shame they didn't target more simple things like remembering to turn lights off, using energy efficient bulbs, not always boiling a full kettle and maybe persuading some of the other corporates to turn there PC's off at night. I used to work in a call center for HSBC that operated 16 hours a day - but all 2000 PC's remained on 24 hours a day!

Lets start with the simple behavioural savers, rather than redesigning every electronic device out there.

MCE on a Mac Mini is possible ... check out http://www.furrygoat.com/ for more details.

"I used a single Media Center 2005 DVD to install from, rather than 2 CD's. Basically, I copied the bits from both CD's to a folder and used Nero to make a bootable DVD."
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
