It really gets annoying when companies attempt to patent everything they do, but then again it's equally frustrating when all the other companies attempt to copy it because they can't be bothered to think up their own stuff.

If you are able to improve on someone else's intellectual property, you should be able to, but I don't agree with crappy cheap rip-offs.
"It's much easier to switch over a country that is the size of a small state, than a country several times larger than the whole of Europe."

If you're referring to the US, how is that several times larger than Europe? The EU and the USA are roughly the same size - Europe is 10.2 million km² and the US is 9.83 million km².

The UK is 244,820 km², just smaller than the state of Michigan, and there are only 10 states bigger than that.

I wouldn't go round making unfounded statements like that - http://www.shockgadgets.com
Why don't they just leave the real news up until tomorrow then? At least yesterday's posts are remotely acceptable. Surely that would be better than updating the homepage with this drivel.
Come on Engadget, what do you think you're doing. Expanding your horizons? Celeb gossip may be interesting, but its nothing to do with gadgets. Go post it on TVSquad or something. Please.
OMG - maybe this isn't a real Sony product? Maybe someone made a fake one and just put a Sony logo on so that people buy it? Scandalous.

Congrats Engadget - good to see something decent last (for a change).

I know someone earlier on posted this one, but c'mon, it's priceless...

Speculation is what half of gadget journalism is about - the xbox 360 is one prime example

How do you expect me to pick ONE post out of all the iPhone speculation? I like Chris' writing, so that's how I picked this one. Damn these choice-inducing competitions.

Yay again!

You KNOW you just want it for the wireless headset :p
Snap!

Yay for whoever thought up the idea of giving away free stuff repeatedly.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
