DevTeam releases PwnageTool and QuickPwn 2.1, wants to rumble {Engadget}

Sep 13th 2008 12:27PM It's not so much that Cydia or Installer is filled with multitudes of great apps and games, but rather that it enables doing some apps that AppStore apps can't. For example, QuickGold is an amazing addition that I can't live without (or I could, but it certainly helps with one of the horrid deficiencies of the iPhone, namely Springboard), and is impossible to make with the official SDK.

So, thanks Dev Team! You make my life so much easier :)

USB indoor / outdoor thermometer: for when walking outside is just too hard {Engadget}

Aug 15th 2008 11:59AM Eh, yeah, this is pretty useless -- unless you need the temperature in software. I'm sure you could write something fun with the data from that device :)

Dell's Latitude-On instant OS detailed, screenshooted {Engadget}

Aug 15th 2008 7:37AM I don't get it. People turn their laptops off? Why? Why wait 15 seconds for just a trimmed down "instant-on" OS, when they can get to their real, full-power OS in less than the time it takes to open the lid? Sleep mode!

iHome ships rotatable iH41 iPod alarm clock {Engadget}

Aug 11th 2008 9:10AM That thing you see there at the base looks to me like a standard Universal Dock Adapter, albeit black. Switch it out for the one that came with your 3G and you should be golden.

StyleTap's Palm OS emulator officially coming to iPhone and iPod touch {Engadget}

May 31st 2008 5:49AM I think this breaks the license just as hard as Java would, so I also find this a bit dubious.

The iPhone patent: Steven P. Jobs, inventor {Engadget}

May 30th 2008 3:55AM That's probably just the ambient light detector that adjusts the backlight. Current model has that too (as do the MBPs).

Microsoft on track to release Windows 7 multi-touch SDK in October {Engadget}

May 29th 2008 1:39PM I really hope this also means,
"Apple on track to release Mac OS X 10.6 multi-touch SDK in June"

:P

Seriously though, this is really a wonderful step in the right direction. Hopefully they've taken this opportunity to make a fresh start with an API that isn't held back by decades of backward compatibility, like they could have done with .NET. But, since it's Microsoft we're talking about, I'm not keeping my hopes up :(

20th Anniversary Mac unboxing video kind of makes us wish product had never existed {Engadget}

May 27th 2008 12:57PM My brother has one of these, I got to play Diablo 1 on it when I visited as a kid, and I can tell you, the refresh rate was horrible :) Everything had trails! Just like any LCD back in those days... But the sound, the sound was excellent :)

Programmable NeuroLED lighting solution has brains, man {Engadget}

May 23rd 2008 10:33AM Always amuses me when projects brag about their software being made in Java. No one but masochists hack hardware in assembler anymore, and Java is no longer really considered a high level language. (Although no one but masochists hack in Java either, so they might as well have gone for assembler.)

Video: Century's Compact Flash SSD SATA adapter reviewed {Engadget}

May 22nd 2008 5:42AM Yeah, the second tune is awesome, what is it?
