This isn't really a thumb drive with the listed I/O speed. It's akin to an external hard drive, albeit in a smaller, more convenient, no-cables form factor.
I really miss BBM, it's one of those things you don't appreciate until you don't have equivalent functionality. I am honestly thinking of breaking the iPhone contract (for a vast array of reasons mind you) and returning to the RIMM fold.
Hey camera makers, here's the secret sauce for a good waterproof body:

-micro 4/3rds
-no more than 10MP, possibly 8 or 6. Need a functional 400 and 800 for underwater
-2.8-4.0 aperture range from wide to tele, again need lots of light. if f/2 is possible, so much the better
-need at least 28mm (135 equiv) wide, 24 would be nice
-don't need tons of zoom, 28-80 is fine. Don't add zoom range at the cost of aberration, fringing and distortion

Make it so

Resolution's just too low. Ergonomic advantages over their lunchbox models don't matter, the camera is going to be locked down or on moco rig for shooting plates.

Although I wonder what handheld looks like at 1000fps....
Compared to what (from digital source)?

Sit through a transfer session of 400fps Photosonics takes and you'll see why Phantom is the future.

Woooowwwww thhhhaaaat wwaaaaaatttteeerrrr isssss reeaaalllllly pretttttttyyyyyyy.......
Unless this would be a relatively small scale project that would not hinder future developments on a potential full successor, I think there are too many deep-seated issues with the game engine to keep producing content for it. While I enjoy the NWN2 games, sometimes the engine and/or interface really get in the way and break the suspension of disbelief.

Looking at the progression of titles from Baldur's Gate to now, it seems like it's been one step forward, two steps back with regard to (re)playability.

@Zargon:

Well "seeing" a sound demo would not be very enlightening, now would it?

Give the Yamaha models a listen; in the right room, the effect works.

In fact, depending on the type of speaker models, it can actually be better because the imaging is so explicitly dispersed. Many "surround" two-way speakers (which are actually very good, very musical bookshelves) are very directional and your ears can source where the sound is coming from, which can ruin the suspension of disbelief.

I still would agree that properly-chosen separates will always sound better, but (some of) these soundbars are pretty amazing.
Why do people think this was cheap? A location shoot like this starts at $100K and flies up from there. Maybe cheaper because of not using 35mm film and shooting really loose, but still...

Doing the car in CG is not the problem, that's approachable. Creating the surrounding environment in CG is much more expensive and difficult.

The solution? Shoot the environment live and insert a CG car. Et voila: best of both worlds!
Chas,

Your suggestion of a 20MP cropped sensor ignores the laws of physics. The physical dimensions of the photosites on such a sensor would be so small that the signal-to-noise ratio would be through the roof. Noise would be apparent at ISO100, and would render ISO ratings above 200 near-useless without MASSIVE noise reduction, which would of course remove all detail and make the photo look like a watercolor painting.

As someone who shoots large format film - how does 8x10 INCHES sound for an image plane? - it's my opinion that digital sensor design still has a LONG way to go, and increased sensor sizes are certainly a valid, even necessary path towards improving image quality.
Are the transceivers always broadcasting? What sort of power? I wonder what the ecological impact is.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
