This has absolutely nothing to do with getting yourself recognized.
I have been following this guys progress since the end of October when he made it. Engadget only picked this up cause he got an award recognizing it on another site.
Personally I think when you make a product that is more advanced than anything else in the world, you are allowed to call it the most advanced pmp ever.

The cowon has the archos beat on 2 formats and an fm tuner.

The Archos has the cowon beat on a touchscreen, wifi, flash video player, bigger screen, higher resolution, cable guide for recording shows on the dvr, HD size up to 160GB, pdf viewer, download service to download directly to your pmp and start playing after a few seconds buffering, supports widgets.

The fact that noone else in the world can do all that stuff makes it the most advanced pmp.
Actually they were the first company to place a harddrive in an mp3 player. They were the first to make a portable mp4 player. First to 100GB mp3 player. First harddrive mp3 recorder.

I guess those don't constitute innovative.

You can see some more here http://www.archos.com/corporate/company/milestones.html?country=global&lang=en
Wow, the fan boys have come out of the works. Obviously the last Archos product you held was the jukebox series.

The battery life is great. I have the 604 and I never have trouble with the battery. About 5 hours battery on a 4.3" screen? Far more time with music. How is that bad, the tiny screen on the ipod classic lasts the same amount of time on video. How is it such a small screen can't outlast a screen nearly twice the size.

The new line from Archos feels far more solid than the ipod touch. I would be afraid of cracking the screen on that little thing.

The touch interface is laid out logically and works great. You don't need little tricks to zoom in and navigate as the resolution and sheer size of the display is so much better than anything Apple has ever produced.

Why is it the fanboys are the only people who have trouble recognizing a superior product? Three years ago having video on an mp3 player was stupid, then apple did it and its cool. Last year having a touchscreen on an mp3 player was stupid, then apple did it and its cool. This year having wireless streaming video, dvr functions, flash video playback, and more is stupid; I guess when the new ipod does everything the Archos can already do, those things will be cool too.
Condensation from the fridge plus electronics = fun time.

Half is post is a lie as he is selling a modded xbox running illegal versions of the games through an xarcade adaptor.
so you chose your name to be "ihavetinyballs"

kudos to the honesty.
This story is complete BS. You do not get a discount at Target if you use your Target credit card, that is a lie. Also, when you return something to Target worth more than $20, they will not refund you cash, you get store credit. This saves in fraud that happens like crazy at Walmart. Usually people try to return something they probably stole for cash saying its broken. Seems awfully strange that she suddenly didn't want an ipod for her kid just cash.
Then lets take an inprompto survey right now.

List your top three gadgets in order. We will see how apple fairs around so many fanboys.

I will start.
1. HDTV
2. Digital Camera
3. Windows notebook
They hate Zune because they hate Microsoft because they love Apple and think Gates screwed over Jobs back in the day. At $130 who can complain, also, to someone elses comment above.

The white ones are being sold because that is what woot got their hands on, nothing to do with being the least popular color.
Don't forget about my baby the Archos 605 when talking about codec support. It supports divx and xvid straight out of the box. My 604 does it as well. Not to mention all the other features souly exclusive to the Archos and no other player in the world.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
