Entering my self while lowering the odds of winning for everyone else. Done.
FYI: According to the US Census bureau, in 2007 the median household income was $50,223. Reference: http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/income_wealth/012528.html
Actually, the Volt uses the E-Flex platform that is based on the Delta II platform. The Delta II platform has been completely redesigned, meaning it has nothing to do with the Cobalt or the related cars on the Delta platform. The delta platform was never designed to hold the batteries and electronic equipment like the Delta II is and would require more than just "cosmetic changes" to work. Please don't down play the amount of work GM has put into this car. They have spent millions of dollars on it and there is nothing in the pipeline from any of the other automakers that even comes close. It has NOTHING to do with the EV1, it was a complete fresh start. The EV1 was a small car capible of a max of 80 miles per hour and transporting two people, it was not an a common daily use car like the Volt is.

Finally, even if GM decided to modify the Delta platform for this car (something that would probably be impratical), it shouldnt be a point against them. Companies (yes even Toyota) use the same platform for many cars, its NOT the same as badge engineering (something that involves cosmetic changes only). It often doesnt make sense to reinvent a unibody layout for a car you expect to have the same weight loads and the same wheel base.

Looking past all this, the Volt contains more than just a basic automotive platform. Its the first production TRUE series hybrid with the first LiOn batteries in a hybrid. No, its not a Tesla roadster, but then again it doesn't cost $110,000 either. Arguably, more engineering went into this car than the Tesla roadster since the Tesla roadster doesn't even have power steering.
All modern super cars or cars that seem to cost an extodinate amount of money are space frames. I havent seen the frame of this car but if its a space frame than its the same thing that Lamborghini and even the corvette uses.
So jason, are you saying it slots below the Silverado in towing? Then what makes it appealing? What is it good at? seating? The Silverado seats the same. Let me know why anyone would want it when the Silverado offers everything it does with better fuel economy and more towing power just in case you would want it some day. You basically admitted it, you are paying the same price as you would a full size truck and getting something much less.
Wow do I feel bad, I barely drive my /daily driver/ 6000 miles a year!
First of all, this is in england. A pence is worth nearly 2 cents in the USA. Second, the Fed makes dollars bills for literally cents each, and this more than makes up for their loss on the penny at this point in time.
Becuase if this is the cobalt replacement, its on the Delta II platform desigend by opel. As far as Daewoo, the correct term is GMD since GM now controls a majority stake in them.
Bryan, I would not say that. The Malibu is worlds better than the camry, the Accord is the only one that has an edge over it, and even then it comes down to options. Atleast the Malibu has real chrome on it.
I was looking over UK versions of popular car sites. I find it very interesting that you have to dig to find HP/KW numbers on their sites but the CO/2 numbers are advertised every where. It must be sad to live in a country where you look forward to a car with 90HP.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
