Hey Engadget:

Gizmodo links to this article. Pretty badass.. never thought I'd see that happen.

Good job.. the people here are much cooler than the people there anyway...

I think the answer is yes, you can do this, at least without wireless carriers. If you go over VOIP through wifi, you're using a different carrier for your internet (e.g. comcast) and then whoever they use to process the VOIP and do the backhaul operations is probably not AT&T.

In the end, if you do this, AT&T won't see a penny from the VOIP call. That's why they're restricting it.
I think that the pricing for voice calls will still be fairly high, so you wouldn't see everyone talking on their cell phones.

I'm pretty sure this would mostly be used by business users who can expense the cost of the phone call, and I think that's fine.

I don't have an iPhone yet, but I will line up to get the 3G as soon as it's released. I have one feeling about the iPhone though: I kinda like that it's a fairly exclusive device. Most people can't afford a $600 phone, so when people see an iPhone, they generally react to it. If, in fact, the iPhone dominates the smartphone market, the iPhone will be typical like a RZR, and no longer the cool, exclusive product. It can suddenly become the Ralph Lauren shirt that you buy at Target.

Much like many other designer products, there's a definite value of exclusivity, does anyone else NOT want the iPhone to become too successful so that it maintains that exclusivity?
I've got a huge front projection as well, and overall love it for my PS3 games.

As much as I love GTA IV, I've been pretty frustrated with the aliasing. It's much worse than other PS3 games, and becomes very noticeable when it's blown up to that size. Remember, bigger is better, but it also shows graphic imperfections, and there are plenty in GTA IV (As opposed to Uncharted, which looks gorgeous.)
Honestly, I think Blackberry users are worse than Gen-Y.

I've taken calls with people while they were driving, and looking at a printout of a ppt at the same time. I also almost peed myself when I was in the car with a partner at my firm, who spent half of the trip on his blackberry.

I'm guilty of it sometimes too. However, I try to only pick up the blackberry at a red light, and I usually end up not noticing that it turned green and have people honk at me.

The biggest distraction for me though is GPS on my blackberry. I guess logically I think that I don't need a separate GPS, but it's really distracting to look at directions on the tiny blackberry screen as opposed to a full GPS on the dash.

It's dangerous, but I believe that the total number of car accidents each year decreases, mostly due to better safety technology in cars (better brakes, traction control, etc.) So I don't think our world is going to hell just yet.
Honestly, I think it's a bit of a waste of money. The need with guitar tuning is not how to tune it to a certain pitch. By hand, it literally takes seconds to tune between songs, especially with a good tuner.

The real need is in staying in tune during a song. I'd much rather have a guitar that can handle all of my two step bends without going out of tune, as opposed to one that goes out of tune every few minutes and automatically retunes itself.

Basically.. it's a gimmick. And by the way, I don't think I'm buying a Gibson anytime soon because of the frivolous lawsuit against guitar hero. If you want the smooth LP sound, go with a PRS.
I agree. I like it a lot more not because of the rumble, but because it's heavier. Because of the weight, it feels much more solid.
giddy gee, giddy gee, giddy gee
The blackberry will continuing owning the corporate market with one key feature: the push email.

It already has the infrastructure, with many companies having invested in BB servers. More importantly, it's fast, simple, and easy push email. Although the iPhone will have push via Exchange, the UI must be made so that it's super fast, extremely well integrated with Exchange, and most importantly - easy to use.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
