Looks cool, but when played in the dark... eyesore anyone?
I can't wait until this HD-DVD and Blu-Ray thing is done with; I'm going to wait it out so I don't get stuck with a proprietary format... who knows, maybe both sides will win (dual-format) but they have to iron all the bugs/kinks out first... Notice any difference if you've got a standard def. TV? Probably not, the only difference will be that instead of having to flip through a 5-disc set you only have 1 disc.

Most people are simple, and don't want to fork out a couple grand on an 1080p TV set just yet.
Sony has not "always owned" the gaming market... they were successful with the PS1/2 because they simply knew how to market the things properly.

I am well aware that *before* NES there was Atari, arcade machines, pinball, Pong, etc. They owned first. And they're classics :p

Well, let me get one thing first - straightened out: The PS1 was the result of Nintendo saying "no" to a third party (Sony) for an add-on CD peripheral (which would have made Nintendo big but they would have suffered having to pay Sony the big-time royalties out of their hardware sales) thus the deal was a bust, and the PS1 was born out of it - and killed the N64.

The PS2 wasn't what I'd call revolutionary but it kind of more or less "went with the flow" of the technology at the time (DVD? great!). That is what made the PS2 a success: good marketing. The Xbox had an online community first though. The Gamecube was behind but still considered in-sync with the generation of consoles being released at the time.

Now what could make or break the PS3 is Blu-Ray; it's not exactly a "standard" yet because we have HD-DVD... and from what I hear there's not much games to go with it (for now anyway)... It is somewhat more future friendly (as I would call it) but I don't think it will "flop" either because it has long term support for the hardware and software end (meaning one could buy this thing, use it as a computer for 10 years without worrying). Now as far as HD-DVD and Blu-Ray go, we probably will see both standards eventually integrated into one solution (because most middle-aged folk don't know the diff. anyway, and probably are using standard def. TV's to boot). (It would be wise to say that DVD is here to stay)... ok back on topic: I like the PS3 for what it's worth. Especially because of the ability to run Linux (I'm going to run Ubuntu when I get mine)...

Not everything is futureproof anyway - while Sony may have a great product - I don't see many people rushing out and buying one (and don't look at me as being biased - I don't exactly see Wii's flying off the shelves where I live either).... all in good time I guess.

Personally I'm happy with the classics, I love to collect these things when they get "old".
I've seen these little component systems being posted everywhere around the net, from tech specs - to full reviews and a price... the only problem in this is that reviewers are stuck at this little marvel but I see no North American site giving a price for their other wood-coned equipment, such as their SX-DW55 subwoofer speaker and the others...

Maybe it's me, but I could find these bigger wood cone speakers on the JVC website months ago, but nobody is posting specs or pricing in N/America... wassup with that?

I'd pick this little system up (which don't get me wrong does seem very nice) but I want something that's going to be noticeable to show off to people (aka) their big speakers :) I wonder what these things sound like...
Well if you think your own country is bad then maybe you ought to try Canada for a change (if you think the grass is greener, go to the other side)... No country is free in the world... of course, if you want to look at this from a worldly perspective go ahead.

Blame Satan... even though he doesn't need the credit for our own stupidity (we foil ourselves without that devils help sometimes)... And of course you can go blaming people with real faith and God because you have no respect for higher authority... what is this world coming to anyway?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
