WGN America HD coming to DISH Network {Engadget HD}
Jun 11th 2008 11:16PM EXACTLY, this station has been in HD since before the baseball season started, and we're nearly at the all-star break without having it on DirecTV. I'm hoping that they'll get it going now that DISH has it.
DirecTV's MLB Extra Innings SuperFan gets down with HD {Engadget HD}
Apr 3rd 2008 7:40PM Yes, but when will they start broadcasting WGN Superstation in HD???
Chi-town fans everywhere are getting hosed on this deal. They have the channel, they're broadcasting it, so why doesn't DirecTV have it yet??? (Sorry, I'm tired of watching the Cubs in SD)

People Might Just Possibly Be Overreacting a Little Tiny Bit About the Big Ten {Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog}
Jan 11th 2008 10:12PM Perhaps the bowl games shouldn't all be home games for everyone against the Big Ten...then we might be able to evaluate two teams on a truly neutral site. I'm not saying that is the only reason, but the fact that the Big Ten is about .500 when over half of their bowl games are home games for the opposing team is pretty impressive in my book.
I don't know why people keep talking about the Rose Bowl like that proves anything. The Illini are an improving team that wasn't even ranked before beating OSU to end it's season. Then because everyone else choked they were tossed higher in the ranks to play a team that was brought down in the ranks by huge injuries. No one thought that was a good matchup to begin with, and weren't surprised with the results. A Georgia vs. USC and Hawaii vs. Illinois set of games would have yielded a great game and then another blowout since Hawaii sucks...but it still would have been better than these BCS matchups.
PLAYOFF!
DIY robotic foosball table is ready to throw down {Engadget}
Dec 26th 2007 1:07PM that is a pretty cool project. When I was at Illinois we did something similar. I was one of the Mech E's on the project, but we also had troubles making it work with the funds...and it was also 5 years ago. I'd say you guys did a great job.

DirecTV 11 delayed till Q1 2008 {Engadget HD}

I still will point out that the link says only a 2 week delay, so that doesn't seem so bad
DirecTV 11 delayed till Q1 2008 {Engadget HD}
Oct 17th 2007 9:50PM The article about the "delay" was written 6 months before the article describing the December launch. Sounds like Engadget needs to reread their article and rehash the information together...correctly.
There isn't any indication that the 2nd date has changed, so we're probably looking at a very early 2008 turn-on date for the new HD channels on D11
Man-made 'tethered tornadoes' touted as a viable power source {Engadget}
Aug 2nd 2007 9:30AM Why does everyone keep mentioning Chernobyl? That is like mentioning your brother's beat up corsair when talking about the problems involved with racing cars.
Chernobyl was a plant that was constructed as fast as possible and as cheaply as possible to compete with the US during the middle of the Cold War. It doesn't even have a containment building. All plants throughout the world (except test reactors, which there are less than 20 in the US, mostly at top science universities) have containment buildings surrounding the primary loop (the radioactive part). The containment buildings are constructed of at least 4-5 feet of super-hard concrete, and reinforced with an outrageous amount of steel re-bar every 12" on center. If this wasn't enough, the entire inner face of the building is clad with 1" thick steel (Thus why they cost so much to build). The containment buildings are so strong that you could fly a fully-loaded 747 directly into one, and the worst you could possibly do is perhaps crack the building.
There has only been one bonafide meltdown in the US, and that was at 1 of the 3 reactors of 3 Mile Island (the other two still operate normally today). Not a single bit of radiation has been proven to have been released. And, if there was any actually released, the amount was so insignificant that it is less than the amount you receive on a normal basis from eating/drinking items such as bananas and beer (both are irradiated before they reach store shelves and have the most amount of radiation of any common household edibles).
Breath powered USB generator does charging on the go {Engadget}
May 17th 2007 1:15PM I think this guy would be able to get more than 50mW if he got different gear ratios going. All those small electronic motors have great bearings usually, so it wouldn't increase the torque a detrimental amount; yet you'd get much more power generation. Just food for thought.
