Interesting argument Bob E.
It seems that there's no clear consensus the open source people have *actually* violated any patents.
Starbucks is not good for my country (New Zealand) because they open up lots of coffee outlets and put the local cafes out of business, and send all their profits back to the US. Should the Starbucks CEO be jailed as well?
"This would be great for countries that does not allow lethal weapon possession."

haha are you serious? Here in New Zealand the police were recently introduced to Tasers and there's huge controversy over whether this is a good idea.
The general sentiment is, when the police don't have weapons the thugs don't need weapons to fight back, ergo, a less violent society. Seems to me police need more protection cause some places are getting pretty damn violent but it seems clear it would contribute to escalating violence as well as making the police safer.
"Somehow I don't think they're gonna be pointed at those giant Christian protest marches"...?

There's a large difference between a peaceful protest march (however giant it may be), and a riot that endangers persons and property. One is a necessity in democratic society, and I hope no one here proposes limits on that; the other infringes on others' rights and freedoms and should be controlled by lawful means.

Having said that, since when is a firearm 'not a weapon' just because it's non-lethal? See how far you get trying that line with airport security...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
