May 2nd 2008 9:33AM not really considering the price is almost double that of the 360, and that the ps3 version of the game only has a 640 resolution where as the 360 has 720p HD resolution.

FTA: PlayStation 3 version only: Resolution, online issues hamper GTA IV experience

Maybe there IS a difference after all: Reports confirm online issues and less-than-HD 640p resolution for the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV.
When it isn't locking up your system with inexcusable game-ending glitches, Grand Theft Auto IV, for all intents and purposes, has delivered as advertised.

That is, if you're playing the Xbox 360 version.

Confirmed reports today have laid two additional issues at the feet of the PS3 version of GTA IV. These issues include inaccessible online play and a less-than-true-HD 640p resolution.

Sony is aware of the online problems, read a post over at Kotaku, but Rockstar so far has not responded to their inquiries. The GTA IV servers are hosted by Gamespy.

As for the resolution issue, several outlets have confirmed the PS3 version runs at 640p, compared to the Xbox 360's HD 720p. Before you go stringing up Sony and Rockstar for the gaff, however, remember that Halo 3 experienced the same un-HD treatment when it launched in 2007.

Gartner: Blu-ray to win in 2008, HD DVD price cuts are "useless resistance" {Engadget}

Jan 29th 2008 3:23AM @ why not

they could but if it damaged your hardware they were liable since sony and fox lobby introduced the sections into the spy act they can now use any DRM that we are not allowed to debug and they are immune from prosecution. BD+ is the blu-ray only extra level of DRM that uses the java platform to run the code it was finalised for use in september last year.

Gartner: Blu-ray to win in 2008, HD DVD price cuts are "useless resistance" {Engadget}

Jan 28th 2008 2:01PM @ boudu

stop what exactly, posting the truth of the pro DRM advocates in the MPAA or the fact the blu-ray only DRM BD+ is bad for the consumer as it gives the studios the right to do anything they wish to our hardware, or ict has been delayed at the will of sony m$ to allow all old, none future proof incompatible stock to be sold to consumers before they flick the switch?

i didn't mention the fact that the sony and fox lobby introduced a bill into the "spy act" that allows them to install any code they wish into our hardware without fear of litigation and we are not allowed to debug and notify the world about dubious, malicious, code anymore.

google "spy act only protects drm" and read the content

this was already announced at the euro launch with reduction in b/c updates.

FTA: David Reeves "Rather than concentrate on PS2 backwards compatibility, in the future, company resources will be increasingly focused on developing new games and entertainment features exclusively for PS3, truly taking advantage of this exciting technology."

this = you are not allowed to play your back catalouge you have to line our pockets and purchase from the PSN and new PS3 titles ONLY!

Sony announces new Blu-ray module, should drive down costs {Engadget}

Jan 25th 2008 2:37PM its just a shame that many players including sony's own Sony BDP-S300 does not support BD-R media so you will never be playing copies or home movies on this hardware!

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=BDPS300

READ BELOW SONY PDF: Operating Instructions:

http://www.iq.sony.com/srvs/DocsConnect/docget.asp?manualid=99519&DL=

and lookup "This player can play the following discs and files" and then look at "Examples of discs that the player cannot play" and you will see at the top BD-REs/BD-Rs, neither will it play DVD-RW, DVD-R film backups with stripped css or restructuring or without region coding!
