Happy birthday: take a trip in America's largest flying gadget (part 1) {Engadget}
Mar 23rd 2008 10:08PM Happy birthday Engadget! Let me share a story with you folks. I was supposed to go to Colorado for five days total and meet my uncle in Colorado(three for snowboarding, two for traveling). I flew southwest airlines and this was my first time flying alone. So this past Wednesday my flight out of Philly gets delayed by one hour, making me miss my connecting flight in Chicago. When I get to Chicago I am put on standby for the next three flights out to Denver, along with the host of others that were on my flight. By eight o clock I have realized that there is no way of me making it on the third flight, as not one person from the flight out of Philly has made it on to any of the previous two flights to Denver. I ask the desk attendant at my gate when they can guarantee me a seat to Denver, and she tells me I will have to wait in the airport until Friday afternoon, which would give me one day of snowboarding. As I have already been waiting for eight hours in Chicago's midway airport, waiting two nights (one full day and a half on top of the previous eight hours) till Friday with just my backpack by myself does not sound like a fun idea. Being under eighteen the Airline couldn't put me in a hotel, so there was nothing I could really do except chill in Midway. I ended up just getting on a flight back to Philly and going home. My bags went to Denver on the first flight, so I had to wait till Friday morning to get them. Luckily Southwest Airlines gave me a full reimbursement, but I learned a valuable lesson and that is to never fly making a connection. It is so much worth it to give yourself the extra insurance and spend a couple extra dollars on a non stop. Not sure why I took the time to write this, but hopefully someone will read this and heed my advice. Oh and my Birthday is this Friday ;-)

OLPC XO reviewed... by a twelve-year-old {Engadget}
Aug 10th 2007 4:56PM It is very plausible that this kid could have reviewed this actually. If he has been spending his entire life on PCs, then he is most likely on forums. Forums tend to force you to pepper your posts and arguments with advanced words and sentence structures. I didn't think of this before. I know that my grammar and word choice has become far more advanced because of the time I spend on forums.
