Chad...
I dumped Satellite too (DTV's DVR sucks). If you have Mac, buy a Maglia HD mini and then you can record all the network shows digitally off-the-air. Maglia mini-HD then automatically outputs versions for Apple TV and iPod/iPhones. BTW, NBC announced a name change today, from NBCU to NBCFU.
GetaGrip, you need to get a grip and re-read my post. I said I got the HR-20 in May of THIS YEAR and returned it (In the DirecTv provided FedEx box) LAST WEEK. When I got the run around about why sound was 2 seconds ahead of picture on so many of my recordings, I looked up HR-20 on the web and discovered the problems going back a year. That's when I realized that I bought a machine that's been on the market for a year and still has the same troubles that were complained about a year ago.
GetAGrip, I got my Hr-20 three months ago. Sync problems right away. DTV says dish not aimed properly. They sent a tech out to re-aim the dish (never had reception problems) and he said that re-aiming the dish would not fix the problem, that there are problems with the unit. As for being a DTV-hater, I was a subscriber to DTV for seven years until my DTV experience got too frustrating to continue, thanks to the HR-20. Yes, people had problems a year ago, the fact that new units still have the same problem tells you something, doesn't it. Now excuse me, I have to pack up my xBox360 to get it fixed.
I'd be careful before getting a DirecTv HR-20. I had huge problems with bad lip sync and very sluggish response. I sent the unit back. Google "HR-20" and get read other's experiences with DirecTV's DVR before plunking down your hard-earned cash. Too bad they kicked Tivo to the curb for the piece-of-crap HR-20.
This is what's wrong with America. College tuition that burderns students, but hey, let's spend loads on a tv screen used a dozen times a year. Whatever happened to college football for the students diversion instead of a massive, scandal ridden industry (college football) to contributes to moral decay. And yes, I expect to get flamed for posting such a moralistic diatribe in engaget.
Dude, O&A only brought 35,000 new subs to XM, so I think its more like "O&A always take it in the end". XM found them to be so successful that XM is whoring them out to CBS stations to recoup their ill-spent money. Maybe those 35,000 feel a little duped paying for whaat they can now get for free.
If that's the Z5's interface pictured, then its clear that while Mr Mercer contributed to the iPod interface, Mr Jobs was the final gatekeeper of development and thank god. "Welcome to Z" - brilliant. Turning battery icon vertical - awesome. Transparent effects - I wish books had them to help me read. Mr Mercer doesn't get it. Black type on white background = legibility. Only add what's necessary to the interface. Guess Samsung got their money's worth.
There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again." - G.W. Bush, iPod User
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
