Ford gets CES innovation awards for Sync and Work Solutions {Autoblog}
Nov 13th 2009 3:39PM I have a friend who is a large animal veterinarian. He has a Ford truck with the Work Solutions package. It's totally changed how he does business. He can leave his home or office in the morning, drive from call to call, receive updates from his office through his cell phone, handle billing directly (and print out invoices while the customer waits) and then take his stored data from his truck and upload it to his office computers when he returns. In his opinion the Work Solutions package is worth every penny. Given that, I'd have to say that Ford deserves an award for their technological integration.

Nov 13th 2009 3:04PM I'm just glad Maximum Bob isn't as bare as the article said he would be. I don't think I could bear the sight of it.
Now the Regal on the other hand... that's a winner. New GM is definitely starting to head in the right direction. I just hope not too many of their potential customers hold the bailout against them.

This was pretty awesome stuff. And aside from a few spectators getting run down it doesn't appear as if there were too many injuries. Unless you want to count the trees.

Nov 12th 2009 4:04PM Totally awesome work! When I saw the Lada I was reminded of the earlier Autoblog post about an upcoming Russian movie, "Black Lightning". The producers need to hire this guy for the sequel.
You Better Believe It: Christian license plate reportedly banned by U.S. District Court {Autoblog}
Nov 11th 2009 10:57PM Sean, I have studied this. And your interpretation is flawed in at least one major way: Freedom of religion *includes* the right to be free from religion. The rights of Christians and atheists are equal in the eyes of the Constitution. True, the founders were against the establishment of a state church. That also includes government support for any particular religion, lest it amount to an endorsement of one faith over another. Also, the Supreme Court building doesn't have the Ten Commandments engraved anywhere. They do have friezes depicting various givers of laws, which includes Moses. But it also includes Hammurabi and King John. In that context I don't think any reasonable person would construe it as a religious endorsement. As for Presidential speeches, what difference does that make? Politicians pander to people all the time. Using faith to do so is nothing new.
Now, can we please get back to talking about cars? Or do you want me to taunt you a second time? ;-)

Nov 11th 2009 4:27PM What's with all the attacks on Muslims? I don't know any practicing Muslims who don't believe in God, so there's no conflict over having that phrase on U.S. money at all.
If God is the being you all believe he/she/it to be, surely he/she/it is big enough to look beyond the different ways people choose to worship. But I suspect talking about cars would be more relevant.

Nov 11th 2009 4:19PM By necessity freedom has limits. One of the limits the framers of the Constitution saw fit to include was a prohibition against the government endorsing a particular religion. You may not view a license plate this way but, for now at least, the courts disagree.
There are plenty of ways to trumpet personal beliefs from the rear of vehicles. I see them every day. It's not necessary to have state issued license plates for this purpose given the controversy.
