Oh, and props on putting quotes around "payoffs" to make it seem like a quote. It's not. You are adding it to make the headline more interesting. First identifying mark of a hit-piece is crap "journalism" like this.

Just like saying "republicans" or "conservatives" to talk about the people who ran our country into the ground for 6 years straight when they held the majority makes them sound phony too. Oh wait...
Fox News Fear Mongering. Making the leap from "Democrats now want part of it to be available to non-profit entities" to "Billions of dollars for ACORN" is unsubstantiated in the report. I don't see the bill mentioning ACORN and non-profit groups could just as easily be a Christian Organization doing GOTV as much as it could ACORN.

Stop making leaps to make headlines without real facts.
No shortages? That's bull. They completely shafted northern indiana. Still waiting on mine to be drop shipped.
Instead of liveblogging this - wouldn't it be a helluva lot easier to just IRC it?

This seems like you are using the worst possible medium to give live updates. Set up a restricted posting IRC and then people can set up a chat channel next to it. Problem solved with 1980's technology.
To keep share prices high.
So, it has a fully featured browser - why build specific phone apps? And if it's open source so that people can modify it for their needs - how do we really have a standard? Doesn't that just invite competition to make their apps work and make other carrier's apps not work?

Another mobile circle jerk as far as I can tell. Wake me when it has some market share.
Easy. Take the word "Sony" off of it and have some other company that actually gives a damn about making a useful device make one. I vote for Apple.
Luckily I couldn't give two shakes about the NBA. It's been dead to me since the Wizards were the Bullets. Might as well be professional bowling or the International Lawn Dart championships.
"Things may be different in 10 or more years, but right now Americans still consume media and advertisers support media on traditional TV and radio outlets"

And how do you think that shift is going to happen? Part of it is technical, but those barriers are going down by the minute now. I think its going to TAKE some "big star" to say "F it - I'm going independent online" to pull people to the medium. Similar to how Howard Stern sold millions of Sirius accounts and receivers.

Do I think Don Imus is the one to do that? No, I don't. But there are plenty of other "stars" out there who could.

Frankly, I don't need them anyway. I have enough TWiT network and Revision3 content to keep me nice and happy. If "big media" is going to be dumbasses, that's fine by me, they'll do it without my eyeballs and ears on their advertisers.

I really think that in 10-20 years we will be talking about "the death of big media television and radio" the same way we talk about "the death of newspaper publishers" today.
"Cingular sucks when it comes to their internet phone plans. They overcharge for everything."

Just like Apple.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
