dear lady gaga,

HP did not want you to be a part of this branding because in general you scare and upset your fellow man/woman in a very big way.

I lol'd at the title of this post.
please please please!!!
sweet! pick me! I'm in school and could use some new stuff (especially a laptop; mine is dying)
personally, I own a plasma and think they do look better than LCD's...specs be damned.
Being vague and getting people aware of a product in a world where everyone thinks the iPhone is the best thing since sliced bread is not a bad approach, actually. Plus, explaining what the Pre can do as a phone would fall on deaf ears if not for a creepy, eye catching ad since its a bit complicated for most individuals who aren't obsessed with technology and only branding.

And they make zero reference to Apple's product in this ad, and this is not like the Hi I'm a PC....based propaganda ads that Apple runs at all. Those ads come out and say PC's suck based on skewed facts and statistics. These ads demonstrate its ability to multitask and run multiple programs at once simultaneously. Just because the competition can't do that doesn't mean that's the whole point of the ad and that doesn't make it similar to those other ads.
this is brilliant PR right here. even now, right here, people are arguing and weighing in on the ad. Does that mean you're going to buy a Palm Pre? Maybe not. But it does mean you will continue to mention it to people you know in conversations, therefore effectively increasing Palm's reach and advertising abilities. And chances are someone is going to end up purchasing a Pre from all this exposure in some way/form or another.

Call it what you want, but its still very effective advertising. And on a side note, the actress looks a bit creeperish in the ad, but she's actually very attractive in my opinion. If the Pre had more on-board memory, like say 8-16 gb, I'd totally bite. If you know what I mean, gigaddy, gigaddy, goo.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
