Thank you Pete.

I am quickly becoming an Apple fanboy with my new iPod and soon to own a Macbook, but if you compare these prices and storage capacities to the screen-less Shuffle RCA is not too far off a decent target audience.

A 2GB player with a screen for only $10 more than the Shuffle is pretty decent. On a side note I bought my kids RCA Lyra's because they were affordable where as Apple is not for most parents. These old 512mb models run on a single AAA battery for nearly 20 hours and are virtually indestructible. All these players still work great after more than a year of preteen and teen sporting abuse.
That was my only point! :)

I was not saying anything was wrong with the post, the story, the submission. The only problem I had was the location. I got flamed for it though. :(

Usually I am very happy here that is why I have been reading it for so long. It is a great site.
Sorry we posted at the same time. I am not being critical of Engadget as a whole. I have never said anything negative about them in the past. I voted for them just last week, then I see this so I voiced a thought. My suggestion was merely that rather than trying take some story and make it appealing to a tech crowd we would be happier to wait for a real tech story.

I mean nothing offensive about the article at all, nor the writer. More just comments directed to who ever decided this belonged on the front page. Sorry if I have offended anyone. I didn't mean to. :)
You are asking me that question? That should be very clear what the complaint is.

This is supposed to be a tech blog is it not? Perhaps you are new? If so it's ok, no big deal at all. If I wanted to read about a 1962 VW I would have subscribed to another tech feed and would not have voted this blog under the tech category but the automotive rather. Pretty simple really. ;)
Agreed! How is this considered the tech content that earned the best tech blog award?? Damn, I even voted for you guys and this is what hits my feed reader just days later! :(

I think quality ranks higher than quanity engadget. If you can't feed us with what we want we can wait honestly, no need to do this. :) We're patient.
Tested with 8+ hours of battery life with radio on. Gotta love that!
I don't how anyone is saying it is a "rebadged" anything. Current (only on 1.2 again) firmware aside no other PMP has the hardware or capability of the prospect of what the wifi "could" be, or am I wrong?

In terms of dimensions and style, yes a gigabeat for sure. Have you seen the screen? It is gorgeous. That and the wifi is what sold me on it. I am not nearly as concerned as the others seem to be on the firmware, it is just a baby yet I am sure in time...

Not a total fan yet (certainly a believer though) I do have my concerns. It currently does not have any support for Thai language (any Asian language for that matter) yet. But then again very few do, and even fewer that are legitimate updates OEM most are merely hacks. The wi-fi will certainly open up at least for the non-drm files they will have to or surely it will just be hacked. For now though considering it is merely a fledgling, I am very impressed but certainly awaiting my issues to be addressed. :)
If you recall the ipod didn't exactly fly off the shelf the first 12 months it was out either. Not until they started build a fanboi base with the ever-so-wanna-be elitists.

You don't like Zune, so what? Carry on with your ipod (it is afterall the only thing Apple has done right). Best said in the link below.

"One thing that is sure to never go away is the self-righteous attitude these cultists have. They somehow think they are better than others because they are willing to pay more for inferior products. Stick an Apple logo on a Zune and add $50 to the price and they will buy it in droves."

And that can be seen all the way over in Thailand!

"The price of a nice cellphone" to me means $500. Sure they stripped it down and now agree to go back to where they initially got everyone's attention. They all complain and they agree to go back to the original plans but the price will nearly double. They keyboard I would have paid $500 for jumped to $1200 with half the features, then again the features are mentioned but the price tag increases? $2000?!~!

I think not. I am done reading on this. They could have had my $500, maybe even $700, but this is insane. Did anyone ever consider that perhaps they knew the feature cut would cause complaints and this is simply a way to raise the price in disguise? Conspiracy theorists unite!
Color me as ignorant but at these prices of $500- $4k would it not be cheaper to buy a $200 barebones kit, throw an OS on it and a server case with 8 bays? I mean hell you could throw in a PCI wireless G card and hide the case on the top shelf of your closet making it a wi-fi NAS box right? What am I missing here?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
