I understand this argument in theory, however in practice I don't notice any detectable difference in audio quality. Cranking the ipod to max volume to do line out of the headphone jack is no load unlike headphones. I own an older sendstation product, which I purchased for a different reason, firewire adaptor, and have much experience with the product.
Over 300 comments and sound quality was mentioned just once. I found the itouch nearly unlistenable. Much happier with my 5g, which by no means has perfect sound, but much more listenable.
MR. DAVE: ""I like it when people say stuff like "anyone willing to put down $600"
It makes me realize other people think that's a lot of money."

Gee they really don't teach much common sense in business school. Fortunately 99% of us were not born into money and know what value means.

I suggest restricting your comments to the country club.
The unit looks great, but how could anyone spend so much on a media center that does not have or support a high quality sound card?
"Internet connectivity and SiriusXM ain't it for new radio, folks, don't discount HD radio. "

Nice writing
I love the boom box. Has Tivoli like stying. If it could sounds as good as a PAL but in stereo with a rechargeable battery, it would be great.
At $129, this is quite a bit cheaper than Keyspan and other implementations. Not sure why Engadget is so down on a practicial product at a reasonable price when it gives so much coverage to an $800 cell phone.

I think this product solves the challenge for people who don't want to have their tv or projector on all the time when they listen to music.

The downside, I'm sure the docking station has worse audio output than the ipod itself.
It's just a phone folks! My Razor lasted exactly one unlucky drop. Did nothing particuraly well. $179 to replace under plan. Meh. I love my $19 cingular go phone which works with my sim card and will let me talk for 12 hours with one charge. It does nothing else, but it does what it's supposed to quite well. if it breaks, i buy another one.
"I hate advertising on things you expect ME to pay for. If you want me to advertise your product/movie/band/sports team, you better A) Lower the price or B) Hand it over for free and call it an advertising expense. I think that people that wear sport teams hats, or Superman shirts, or whatever are fools. You just spent $25-30 on a baseball hat with a team logo on it. They pay MILLIONS to advertise, and they just took you for $25-30.... for a hat! LOL! You should watch Idiocracy... While it is a silly movie, it makes some EXCELLENT points."

That's funny. That's how I feel about ipods and their myriad accessories.
Gee, still trying to figure out why my pro walkman was called pro. It did not survive one minor drop.

Engadget: What part of Zoom's website did you not read regarding this product?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
