Buying outright with no contract is still way cheaper than the only other option... expansys.ca who still have it at $840 buckaroos.
"...downgrades -- not to simpler versions of Win 7, but..."

Whatever, in my experience with these guys, with any online purchase you just call and complain (enough) and they'll make it happen and refund your money, albeit, I haven't tried that with Windows, but I've purchased services and software from them such as their OneCare and then found out they were dropping the service themselves in time along with some other functionality related complaints and they not only let me out of my subscription but they didn't even bother pro-rating it, they just refunded me the entire amount even having used it for 4 months. I'm sure there would be a way... to get your way.
Moon Secure (www.moonsecure.com) is also worth a look, based on the clamav core at the moment and going heuristic soon. Best part is it stays out of my way and has a live scan engine.
Got nostalgic and watched it just a couple weeks ago, but I think they're going after a more Futureworld kinda place, you know with politician replacing bad dudes and stuff, maybe they'll invite Kim Jong Il to the show, not that he isn't already short circuiting.
Last.fm FTW.
Disagree, HP 2133/2140. Nuff said.
@ John Titor

Boards of Canada (The Band) is from Scotland.

@ Boards of Canada

Correct, they are indeed great.
My life fades. The vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos. Ruined dreams. This wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior. The man we called "Max". To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time...
iCandy's dandy but iLiquor's quicker.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
