Me like and me want.
Okay, okay--I give. You guys have been getting some hate comments from me since I've started visiting your site. I've always thought that you were a bunch of BR nut huggers, etc.

Well -- it seems inevitable that BR will be dominant in this war, making HD DVD a niche with the recent decision of a studio.

Anyway, I can't really spend anything right now since my wife and I are planning on getting a house soon -- saving up them dollars. This would make a great pre-house warming gift.

I'll send you a copy of the purchase agreement if you don't believe me.
@Rob

Umm they are paying about 150 for it not including the 5 free mail in rebate discs. 2 are with the box and 5 from their selection. At 19.99 each, I'm being generous too, that's 140. The player will pay for itself.

It's a great investment. I'll probably take advantage of this tomorrow.
Hi there Engadget Blu nuthuggers...and of course BR nuthuggers. I would be format neutral if they came out with an affordable BR player. As for now, I'll stick with my HD DVD player and I'll import some of the BR eclusive titles too.. they're as much as the titles Fox has released. Oh and by the way how come Engadget hasn't posted the BR exlcusive store from our friends down-under, that they have turned and went HD DVD exclusive? This site posts every news that has to do with BR success but never HD DVD. I wouldn't call JB Hi-Fi going exclusive to HD DVD small.
gotta be kidding me? who the hell drinks rolling rocks? your staff needs a good set of cahones....
Pick me !!
@MacGuru:

Okay so what do you consider real-world? A player that's 1200.00 or a player that's 250.00 dollars which would pretty much do the same thing ...oh wait, I totally forgot that BD players have not launched their 1.1 profile. Damn, that means I bought this 1k player and I can't even accessthe movies extra features?

Yeah ...great thinking Mac. Would you like to meet my friend--Mr. Reality?

Have you checked the new price for Sony's S500 player? You really think they're dropping the price? And the lower end model is 499.00?!! Give me a break !
Prices in the U.S. for an XA2 are way below. I've seen XA2's brand new for as little as 450.00 U.S. and this is from a B&M store.

So, the prices ARE way far off. The XA2 will remain Toshiba's "flagship" even when the Gen 3's come out.
We'll see... right now an "entry" level generation 2 Toshiba HD-A2 can be had for 199 and change. We should see an MSRP of 199, street price of 140-170. I think this will be good enough for J6P.

Oh and Engadget, WHO the hell cares about 1080p and 1080i... I doubt anyone can discern the differences. Send me some links and actual tests that 1080p is visually different from 1080i.

Great time for the Blu-Boy nut huggers to go nuetral.
Check out the sales before you make assumptions little boy.

Of course Sony would do their own "stress tests." Blow me Sony. Make some games already !
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
