Songbird intros $79 disposable flexfit hearing aid {Engadget}
Sep 24th 2008 6:25PM Okay, not to seem like some sort of eco-nazi, but do we really need more electronic devices that are _designed_ to be disposable? Seems to run counter to how we need to be managing our resources. Devices that factor recyclibility into their design and manufacturing may require more material and/or energy to product initially, but we can recoup at least a portion of the materials for reuse. Just my $0.02.

Sep 8th 2008 2:43PM All of you WinMo vs. iPhone flamewar participants - SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!
If you're not here to comment (in direct terms) about the nature of the article posting i.e. Best Buy (potentially) selling the Touch Diamond, then go somewhere else and be butt-hurt there.

Sep 6th 2008 10:35PM Anyone know if HTC has improved the GPS acquisition time on their newer devices?
My X7501 takes 3 minutes from a cold start, which makes it kind of painful to use for quick, location-based look-ups, whereas my Blackjack II (w/WM6.1 update) now takes only 15-30 seconds. Form factor-wise, the Touch Pro would be a great compromise between the two devices, but the GPS lock time is the key, for me at least.
There can be only one: "source" claims for iPhone 2.0.2 to not suck, 2.0 must die {Engadget Mobile}
Aug 29th 2008 7:00PM I have a sneaking suspicion that there is some overall truth to this allegation. For the past two months, my wife and I have been having a hell of a time keeping calls connected in 3G service areas (which now cover the entire area around and between where we live and work) on our Blackjack II's, whereas we never had any problems before beyond the slightly higher power consumption of 3G mode.

1 - Perhaps you should consider the post in its proper context which is grassroots developers doing something the device maker said is too technically complex to undertake at this time.
2 - No one reading about this cares about the Jesusphone.
3 - The fact that your course still uses fax instead of email or the web for tee time reservations says a lot about your course and its members.
4 - You comment, combined with the fact that you get bored so easily just tells the rest of us that not only are you a tool, but you also have ADHD.
5 - Watching Jimmy Neutron over and over while drooling on yourself and rocking back-and-forth on your haunches does NOT make you an expert in 3D animation.

Jul 12th 2008 10:21PM "Wow" wasn't even close to the top of the list of words that came to mind upon seeing this. Stupid, pointless, and overdone were the first three, followed by poseur, tool, and "erectile dysfunction compensation device".
I have no doubt some idiot in my neighborhood will buy one of these with their HELOC before it completely implodes.

New AT&T site touts carrier's software, hardware freedom {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 21st 2008 6:19PM This is pretty straight-forward:
1. Call AT&T's international support group,
2. tell them that you'll be traveling overseas and want to use a local SIM in your handset,
3. give them your IMEI, and they'll give you the unlock code for your handset.
ASUS P750 secretly packing VGA resolution? {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 13th 2008 8:07PM You are a tool.
This has nothing to do with Windows - it's Asus' choice to run it at 320x240 (if it is indeed a VGA part.)
Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for Samsung BlackJack hits today {Engadget Mobile}
Jan 30th 2008 12:07PM I've tested SMS, MMS, and Internet services in the 3G area that I live in, and in the EDGE area that I work in, and all are still working after 9+ hours.
For me, the real test will be if they continue to work after several days.
The one thing that I did notice was that ActiveSync briefly flashed a connection error message when I did a manual update after arriving the EDGE area. But the error message went away in about a quarter of a second, and was replaced by a normal status indicator. So it seems like the radio isn't making a seamless switch between modes.
I'd seen a quasi-similar problem with the original WM5 firmware, but that one required me to re-boot the phone in order to get incoming calls and data after going from a 3G-to-EDGE areas, though I could still make outgoing calls. That was annoying as hell.
