Sneak Peek: WireTap Studio {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Oct 4th 2007 10:07AM Checked out the videos and it looks decent but unless it's super-cheap, I can't imagine anyone picking this over AudioHijack Pro from Rogue Amoeba. Those guys are the audio kings. I own all of there products but one and they all perform flawlessly.

Signal: turn your iPhone into an iTunes remote {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 26th 2007 10:46AM If you don't have problems turning on PHP in your OS X install, you can use the free and open-source Vespasian.

Create your own iPhone remote application {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 24th 2007 9:27AM If you just want to control iTunes, you might want to give Vespasian a go. It'll control iTunes from the iPhone or any PDA and has a desktop interface as well if you wanted to control iTunes from the browser of a full-size computer.

EA selling games in the Apple Store {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 21st 2007 9:46AM "I really think that releasing these games will only tell EA what they already knew: Mac owners don't buy their games. Be serious: how many of you readers are really going to hit the link above and buy Battlefield 2142 right now? I didn't think so."

Could you be a little less jerky about it? Despite what *you* think, there are plenty of Mac users who want to play games. I myself keep a windows workstation around just to play games on and these games EA has released will be that number less on the windows machine. And I have several friends who all have gotten turned on to Macs and are gamers. I seriously hate it when people group everyone together, your just as bad as the "macs are only good for graphics" people or the "macs are only good for the elderly" crowd.

Keyspan TuneView color LCD iTunes remote {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 25th 2007 10:26AM Or if you don't want to pay anything at all and don't mind a couple commands on the terminal to enable PHP on your Mac, you could use the free software called Vespasian. (http://www.vespasian.org)

Late Show writer doesn't find humor in smoking G4 adapter {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 16th 2007 9:44AM I had something similar (smoking, discoloring of the shielding but no sparks) happen to my power adapter on my iBook. I called them up and they apologized and shipped me a new adapter. I couldn't have been on the phone start to finish for more then 5 minutes (including hold time and navigating the menu).

To the person who said this is a design flaw, it kind of is, but its kind of user error as well. Yes, if you pull tight on the cord as you wrap around the two cord holders, your going to be putting undue stress on the connection. Mine was always slightly bent but never pulled tight, so after this I always add a little slack, I leave about a half-inch of cord going straight off the brick and then wrap the cord around. No problems since.

SimplifyMedia extends iTunes sharing to buddies {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 13th 2007 9:45AM I use a combination of a program from Rogue Amoeba (NiceCast) and a remote-control software program I wrote myself (Vespasian). All I do is open NiceCast, tell it to broadcast using iTunes as the audio source. Then when I'm at work or wherever I just connect to my NiceCast stream just like it was a normal shoutcast station and then I just load up Vespasian in my web-browser to actually control iTunes. If anyone wants to check it out, you can download my remote control software from the following URL. Please note you have to enable PHP support in your OS X's web-server install.

AAPL hits record highs, up 55% over 6 months {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 11th 2007 9:31AM I think HP is just where "steve got his start", not "steve and steve" because if I remember correctly Steve Jobs never worked for HP, just Steve Wozniak.

Skype for Mac 2.6 released {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 17th 2007 8:45AM To the poster who was requesting info on how to adjust input volume while on a call, all you have to do is start the call, open system preferences then the sound panel then select the input tab and choose your bluetooth headset as the default input. That will change the volume slider to the level of your bluetooth headset which can then be raised or lowered, even if your on a call.

Mac 101: Things NOT to do on your Mac {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 16th 2007 8:53AM I'm not sure what the author was talking about on number 4. You can move the Microsoft Office Folder from Applications and not have any problems. Yes, you shouldn't do it because applications should live in the Applications folder but it won't "result in a rough day for everyone". I just tried it and all the programs ran fine when the folder was moved to my desktop and from an external drive.
