Thanks for saying that - my thoughts exactly.
Something tells me we're going to see the costume contest ahead of the photos. The longer they wait to post the results, the more site traffic they get, you know? I just hope they aren't all going to be separate 'Friday' announcements.

Good point, Jordan. Oh wait - who cares?
I'm actually more interested in how the controls are being used to navigate through all these menus. Is this all laser pointer style navigation?

The controls are still a bit of a mystery to me. Looking forward to seeing them in action!
That's seriously impressive one handed unboxing by Ryan, there.
Ha! I love the clapping at the end of Aleksandr Karpets' track. Nice breakdown of the spelling of ENGADGET, too. Good stuff.

Pecos - I agree, the mix is better on the 2nd Place entry, but both were very clever. It was probably an extremely difficult choice! (That horrid repeating modem sound might have played a roll in the decision. . . who knows.)
It's about advertising potential, Joe. This isn't a technology for the consumer to buy. It's an innovative answer to the question, "How can we transform this empty space into revenue?"

. . . I think it looks pretty amazing.

I definitely agree - there have been some really strong entries posted here, and I hope they post some runner ups so we can see a sample of the range of that creativity.

I don't envy the challenge of picking a single winner though! That has to be torture. My jelly-bean jar guess for number of entries would be somewhere in the range of 2500. The prize had to pull a ton of interest.

Final answer: 2,423.

Too low? Too high?
Personally, I hope they stay with these earthy tones. It's giving the device a really nice organic feel - which I think will appeal to a lot of music aficionados.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
