Anyone using the Dual Connect Remote with the Zune HD?

I got a Zune Dual Connect Remote for my Zune HD but it doesn't seem to work. I can get it to work maybe 1 out of 10 attempts. I've tried the MS troubleshooting steps of resetting the Zune, making sure the remote lock is off and waiting for several seconds after connecting before trying to use it.

I really want this to work because it is perfect for car use - I don't need to plug the audio cable in every time I get in the car, I just need to slot the Zune onto the remote connection (which I have attached to a perfect spot on my dashboard), and I have actual buttons to skip songs, change volume, and play/pause (which the Zune HD severely lacks).

I basically want to figure out if my remote is faulty (it is brand new) or if everybody with a Zune HD has the same issue.

My remote works just fine with my HD. The only time I had issues was when the HD connector was dirty. But at that point, NO accessories would work. I simply had to clean the connection to get it working again.

Thanks for the info.

I suspect that my remote may be faulty. I might just buy another - they are cheap on eBay.

I use a dock for charging/wireless sync at home and that has never had any problems with my HD, nor has any of my charging cables, so I am confident the Zune itself isn't at fault.

I was having the same problem and seem to have figured out a workaround. Turn off your Zune HD (power down). Plug the remote in to your Zune HD, but DO NOT plug the headphones in to the remote. Boot your Zune HD completely. After it has powered on, your remote should be working. Now plug the headphones in. This works everytime for me.
