Engadget, I need a new Macbook with large amounts of storage, but can't afford the $$$

Here's the background. I have a 2008 unibody Macbook, which I just recently, about a year or two ago upgraded my HDD to a 1TB drive. That set me back around $150. The problem is now I can't justifying upgrading my laptop and spending $700 for equivalent SSD memory, when I spent a fraction of that last year. I need to get a new laptop, amd would prefer a

I'm not sure of the end of your question because it was cut off, but if you need a large amount of storage inexpensively, a HDD is the only way to go at the moment. SSD is and continues to be fairly expensive for a large amount of storage. You do have a few options:
  • Spend the money on the largest HDD Macbook model you can afford.
  • Spend some of the money on a SSD Macbook model, and get a large desktop or portable HDD to accompany.
  • Spend some of the money on a Macbook with any HDD, then purchase a replacement fusion drive for the laptop. A fusion drive allows you to put your files you use most in the SSD portion, and everything else in the HDD portion. (This option requires the most know-how, work, and time.)
