Home button slow to respond?
Finally, after about 15-20 seconds, the iPhone seems to register all these past taps and starts going crazy. Task bar pops up, disappears, app exists. Task bar appears again, disappears. After this happens, boom! I can finally do what I originally wanted (i.e., probably switch apps).
Anyone else notice this behavior? I don't think it's a hardware issue, since it looks like iOS *is* registering the home button clicks. It just takes awhile. It also doesn't happen every time -- a few times a day at the most.
If you do decide to reset, I'd do some research about restoring your text messages and other application data.
Interestingly enough, the other phone (and the data it has been restored from) has never been jailbroken nor sync'd with my computer. It makes me think this is some weird software issue in iOS 4.2.1 (which is when we both started noticing this). That said, we haven't heard anyone else mention this problem yet.
Coincidentally, I had just watched Tekzilla and had observed Patrick pour 93% isopropyl alcohol onto his home button (admittedly in horror), and squeegee the gunk out of it. I attempted this while still on iOS 4.2.1, and under no circumstances did it help... well, the click felt more "clickity" (tactile if you would care to be technical). Now under iOS 4.3 GM, it seems to be more responsive... I never let apps run up in the multitasking bar though, so I haven't tested it under more than a 6 app load (Messages, iPod, Mail, Settings, Engadget, iBooks).
*On an unrelated note: Thank you for updating the engadget app for use with multitasking!!
By the way, we have nothing to do with Engadget or the Engadget app. :)
Oh my, I thought you all had. Am I correct in the fact that the creator of engadget, created gdgt? My history lesson for the day. Either way, my apologies. :)
Well hopefully it fixes your woes!
