Is it worth waiting for a Google-Motorola device before upgrading?
If you have a Droid you're on Verizon, I assume, and the Bionic is set to come out in the next 2-3 weeks. Dual core, 512mb ram with qHD makes it a pretty slick phone regardless of the Moto Blur.
There are some major phones coming out such as the DroidHD but nothing is known about it other than a picture.

That said, I think it will be relatively straightforward for Google to start to influence a few of the Motorola software decisions. Some "low hanging fruit" can be addressed expediently. Here I'm thinking of refinements or minor realignments to Moto Blur with the larger vision that Google has in mind for ICS and Android in general. It is fundamentally an add-on after all, so I would think a little editorial stewardship (as opposed to full corporate integration) could make a noticeable difference.
My hunch is that the process of this integration will seem fairly gradual to consumers, ramping up as time goes on.
Droid Bionic is out now, with package deals at Costco. Droid Prime ( Galaxy Nexus Prime / Galaxy S II ) is out in two months. There will always be a newer, better phone every two months or so. The question is just how long can you put up with your phone until you jump in to get a new one. And it all depends on if the new phone gets you excited enough to take the plunge. Good luck. I have a Droid also and am waiting to see as well.
