Is it worth waiting for a Google-Motorola device before upgrading?

I've been using a Motorola Droid for the past 2 years. It's starting to act wonky, and I have an upgrade. I've been wanting the Samsung Galaxy S II/ Samsung Function all month but there's no US release (press release is expected August 29th). I loved the RAZR and enjoyed the Droid most of the time I've owned it. Should I get the Samsung or wait even longer for a Google-Moto device?

Mergers for major companies like Google & Motorola can take months to get approval, consider the T-Mobile/AT&T isn't even complete yet. Add onto the merge approval the length of time it can take for a company to identify their road map moving forward and we could be a year or more before we see anything in the terms of a Googorola device.

If you have a Droid you're on Verizon, I assume, and the Bionic is set to come out in the next 2-3 weeks. Dual core, 512mb ram with qHD makes it a pretty slick phone regardless of the Moto Blur.

There are some major phones coming out such as the DroidHD but nothing is known about it other than a picture.

You're at a minimum of 8 months away from any sort of Google-Motorola phone or product of any type. If everything goes perfectly something might get released 13 months from now.

Yeah, pretty much what I was figuring. I guess I'll have to settle for the Galaxy S II or possibly the Droid Bionic. There was something I didn't like about the Bionic, but I don't recall what.

I have 18 months to go in my current contract, so I'm definitely waiting.

You probably didn't like that the Laptop dock costs as much as the phone. Or else you don't like the hump on the back.

Droid Bionic is out now, with package deals at Costco. Droid Prime ( Galaxy Nexus Prime / Galaxy S II ) is out in two months. There will always be a newer, better phone every two months or so. The question is just how long can you put up with your phone until you jump in to get a new one. And it all depends on if the new phone gets you excited enough to take the plunge. Good luck. I have a Droid also and am waiting to see as well.
