get a new one if that bothers you.
Mine does this too. I don't think it is a defect as I have not noticed any problems with my device
Even though it can't be seen whenever your not in a pitch black room, I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't develop into dead pixels or something of the sort :)
GB33, just curious, but how long have you had your Zune and has it worsened over that time?
I have had mine since launch. It does the same thing. I don't notice it on the boot screen, only after I play a game or use the browser. I think what happens is the screen, after displaying intense colors, has trouble resetting the pixels to black for a few seconds. I notice it after I close the game or browser and the screen is totally black for a second, then it fades away. Pretty sure this is just the way it is. I dont think it will get worse. And heck I'll take a spotty screen (that can only be seen for a quick second in a pitch dark room) over LCD edge bleed and washed out blacks.
My Zune does this. It looks the same to me every time, and occurs whenever the device is loading something like a game or just the main menu. It's funny, though, because once it gets to the main menu, it's pitch black again. I feel like some power could be saved if this was patched to be totally black. As it is, I get the feeling that the Zune Team had the device display an all-black image file when it's loading, only the file was compressed at low quality to save space, and so it has artifacts of gray which show up on the screen.
