Apparently a casual mention on the Engadget HD podcast is enough to bring anyone out of hiding, as Joost follows Managed Copy out of the shadows, showing off a test of a new interface for the video streaming website that is optimized for the PlayStation 3 web browser. Simply pull up http://labs.joost.com/tv/ from the console, and then the controller buttons will easily control all the video playback from there. Joost went in the reverse of Hulu, YouTube XL and others, from desktop app to browser only, but it seems finally ready to offer new ways, through this 10-foot style interface, to get on the TV.[Via Evil Avatar]

It might not have the cachet of widgets just yet, but AnySource Media is promising its Internet Video Navigator solution will run on existing TV hardware, and allow an easy, TV remote controlled streaming Internet video experience and just secured $3.2 million in additional funding to make it happen. The company's software promises a more secure, reliable environment than on a PC with users deterred from hacking or copying content, which sounds a lot like the boring, restricted, pay alternative to our favorite Internet video options that are more typically open, unlimited and free. We'll have a better idea of which side of the line this package falls if it can make TV launches targeted for later this year.[Via Digital Media Wire]

Sure, there's already TVs and devices out there ready to bring the YouTube experience directly to your living room, but today they've launched a page just for browser-enabled living room devices (the PlayStation 3 and Wii) to browse on a TV screen. Point your console to www.youtube.com/tv for the new page, those limited by their PC's can check out the video embedded after the break for a demo. It seems like it would be easy to throw a bone to Windows Media Center Extender devices and HTPC owners by opening things up a bit, but the Official YouTube Blog indicates this beta is intended to encourage more manufacturers to include unrestricted browser support (Xbox 360, please pick up the white courtesy phone.) Take a look and tell us what you think.Read - Official YouTube blogRead - PlayStation Blog
