If the Nikon D90's <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/10/25/nikon-d90s-720p-movie-mode-gets-crituqued/">questionable 720p movie mode</a> did nothing for you, or if you're a self-proclaimed Canon fanboy through and through, there's at least a sliver of a chance you bit on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/14/canon-eos-50d-review-roundup/">EOS 50D</a>. Now that you've had a solid month to flex that shutter finger and pore over the results, how are you liking things? Experiencing a huge dose of buyer's remorse? Absolutely elated with the low-light performance? Did you find enough extras to warrant the upgrade from a D40? We're just looking to hear how you really like / dislike Canon's latest mid-range DSLR, and more importantly, how you'd do things differently if given the keys to the company's R&amp;D lab. Get to spoutin', won't you?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/digitalcameras/" rel="tag">Digital Cameras</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/14/how-would-you-change-canons-eos-50d/">How would you change Canon's EOS 50D?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 19:30:00 EST. If you skipped over the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/20/canon-eos-40ds-early-review-roundup/">EOS 40D</a> in anticipation for the next best thing, and you don't feel like liquidating your kid's college fund in order to procure the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/17/21-1-megapixel-canon-eos-5d-mark-ii-with-full-frame-hd-video-ann/">EOS 5D Mark II</a>, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/50d">EOS 50D</a> has likely been blinking fiercely on your radar. The intarwebz as a whole had a chance to sit down and scrutinize the decidedly mid-range DSLR, and overall, impressions were pretty positive. For starters, just about everyone felt that it was more than a worthy addition to Canon's line, citing "a significant number of refinements to a proven design," a fantastic VGA LCD monitor and expectedly great image quality. Critics also found an improved interface, improved white balance and an ISO setting that was perfectly acceptable up to 3,200 (and 6,400 in a pinch). For DSLR newcomers, the 50D is a pretty safe bet; the only question comes in when trying to decide whether to upgrade from the 40D. Our take? Save the loot and spend it on some decent glass.<br /><a href="http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews_canon_eos_50d.php"><br />Read</a> - PhotographyBLOG<br /><a href="http://www.techradar.com/products/cameras-and-camcorders/cameras/digital-slrs/canon-eos-50d-458349/review">Read</a> - TechRadar<br /><a href="http://www.photoreview.com.au/reviews/digitalslr/canon-eos-50d.aspx">Read</a> - PhotoReview<br /><a href="http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/digitalcameras/0,39001468,44012742p,00.htm">Read</a> - CNET<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/digitalcameras/" rel="tag">Digital Cameras</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/14/canon-eos-50d-review-roundup/">Canon EOS 50D review roundup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 14 Oct 2008 15:42:00 EST. Official word says Canon's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/50d">EOS 50D DSLR</a> isn't <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/15/canons-eos-50d-gets-october-6th-release-date-up-for-pre-order/">shipping until October 6th</a>, but we've found a number of pre-orderers that would beg to disagree. Take enthusiast Roland Lim for example, who has acquired a production unit and ran it through a series of basic, but entirely relevant tests. He's admittedly leaving the "comprehensive technical review" to someone else, but his laundry list of impressions is quite stout. We're told that the body is "essentially the same as the 40D," with the buttons, dials and LCD in exactly the same spots. In the end, he attempts to answer the all-important "should I upgrade?" question; thanks to this one being a mere evolutionary advancement of the 40D, he didn't think it was all that compelling unless you were still rocking some seriously old kit. Hit the read link for the writeup and a plethora of sample shots to see if you agree.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/digitalcameras/" rel="tag">Digital Cameras</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/02/canon-eos-50d-begins-filtering-out-gets-previewed/">Canon EOS 50D begins filtering out, gets previewed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 02 Oct 2008 10:24:00 EST. When Canon answered the rumor calls with its official unveiling of the 15.1-megapixel <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/26/official-canons-15-1-megapixel-eos-50d-with-digic-4-processing/">EOS 50D</a>, it failed to nail down an exact release date. Thankfully, Circuit City has informed us that "October" really means "October 6th," and the beastly DSLR is up for pre-order right now for $1,399.99 (body only) / $1,599.99 (kit with EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens). Just over a fortnight to wait -- surely you can twiddle your thumbs until then, yeah?<br /><br />[Thanks, sds24]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/digitalcameras/" rel="tag">Digital Cameras</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/15/canons-eos-50d-gets-october-6th-release-date-up-for-pre-order/">Canon's EOS 50D gets October 6th release date, up for pre-order</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 15 Sep 2008 14:33:00 EST. <div align="left">Not much left to tell here that you didn't already know. Still, now that the EOS <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/50d">50D</a> is official, we can list the specs with certainty: 15.1 megapixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 image processor, up to ISO 12800 support, 3.0-inch LCD with face detection Live View, HDMI output, 6.3fps burst mode, and same AF system found in Canon's 40D with new Microadjustment feature. This DSLR targeting the "advanced amateur" will be ready for the holidays (shipping in October) for an estimated $1,599 with Canon's EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens -- $1,399 for the body only.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/official-canons-15-1-megapixel-eos-50d-with-digic-4-processing/">Official: Canon's 15.1 megapixel EOS 50D with DIGIC 4 processing</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/official-canons-15-1-megapixel-eos-50d-with-digic-4-processing/#998873"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/20080826_hires_eos50d_3q_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/official-canons-15-1-megapixel-eos-50d-with-digic-4-processing/#998872"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/20080826_hires_eos50d_front_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/official-canons-15-1-megapixel-eos-50d-with-digic-4-processing/#998870"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/20080826_hires_eos50d_open_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/official-canons-15-1-megapixel-eos-50d-with-digic-4-processing/#998871"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/20080826_hires_l221_withcap_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.whiteography.com/">Phil W.</a>]<br /></div>

It's fairly obvious that the EOS 50D is on its way out into the world, especially considering those pics and specs we just <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/21/canon-eos-50d-briefly-appears-on-canons-chinese-site/">caught wind of</a>. Still, it's nice to see some decent images of the 15.1-megapixel DSLR, and thanks to a brief Canon Japan website slip-up, we're able to do just that. Check out one more view of the device after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/24/canons-eos-50d-product-shots-test-photo-leaked/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Canon's EOS 50D product shots, test photo leaked</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/digitalcameras/" rel="tag">Digital Cameras</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/24/canons-eos-50d-product-shots-test-photo-leaked/">Canon's EOS 50D product shots, test photo leaked</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 24 Aug 2008 17:03:00 EST. It's down now, but the listed specs are pretty solid: 15.1 megapixel sensor with a 1.6x crop and ISO 12800 sensitivity through a DIGIC 4 processor, dust reduction, VGA-res 3-inch LCD, and built-in image stabilization -- which is a little odd given Canon's great line of IS lenses. Google still has the page cached if you want to take a look -- it's thrilling, trust us.<br /><br />PS.- As usual, this image has been floating around forever, so it's probably a mockup.<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/679656">FredMiranda</a>, thanks Gerald]<br /> <br /> <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=zh-CN&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http://www.canon.com.cn/products/camera/eos/50d/">Read</a> - Google translate page<br /> <a href="http://www.photographybay.com/2008/08/21/canon-50d-info-leaked-real-specs/">Read</a> - Photography Bay spec listing<br /><a href="http://img166.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fullspecsuu0.jpg">Read</a> - Screenshot of spec listing<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/digitalcameras/" rel="tag">Digital Cameras</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/21/canon-eos-50d-briefly-appears-on-canons-chinese-site/">Canon EOS 50D briefly appears on Canon's Chinese site</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 21 Aug 2008 23:41:00 EST.
