Have you been longing for a violent multiplayer combat game on Steam with no regard for how early it may be in testing? Then you'll be happy to learn that Skara: The Blade Remains will be landing on the Early Access service on October 27th. Players will initially be limited to one-on-one battles in the earliest client, although the ultimate plan is to make the game play as an 8v8 mix of RPG and MOBA elements. You can get a sense for how the game will look in action in the gameplay trailer just past the break. Purchasers will ultimately have their money refunded in the form of virtual currency once the game launches as free-to-play in 2015. If you want to get involved in the testing and don't want to fund the game directly from the developer's site, just hold on a little longer and you can pick it up through Steam. Skara: The Blade Remains is building momentum to fully fund the title for a 2014 launch. The crossbreed of RPG and MOBA is now on Kickstarter, looking to raise $35,000 by July 4. The game is already mostly done and will hit Steam Early Access next month, but 8-Bit Studios' CEO says that this will ensure an even better end product. "We already have a game to offer, but our vision for Skara: The Blade Remains is so much bigger. That's why we are doing a Kickstarter that will offer our backers great rewards if they join us for the wild ride that is game development," said Pablo Rodriguez. We've got the new trailer for Skara after the break in case you're looking for some persuasion before dropping money on the game.

Fledgling MOBA Skara: The Blade Remains has been greenlit on Steam. 8 Bit Studios says that the title garnered over 240 votes "in only two hours" as part of Valve's ongoing indie popularity contest. The firm's press release claims that Skara represents a new gaming genre -- the MOV, or multiplayer online versus -- "where as many as 16 players enter arenas to engage in the kind of real-time combat fighting seen in various games." Go ahead -- make my MMO. And here you thought this phrase only worked when interrupting a robbery! What was a unique phenomenon in the not-too-distant past has become an increasingly popular trend: crowdfunding new MMOs. Whether they're using the Kickstarter funding platform or another, more and more developers are turning to the public instead of publishers to take their designs from the drawing board and into reality. In fact, sometimes it feels like there are just too many to keep up with! Besides the new campaigns that seem to be popping up like dandelions, there are the successfully funded games to keep an eye on. So here's what we're going to do for you: We'll make it easier for you to keep tabs on both the new campaigns hitting the crowdfunding scene and the progress of those MMOs that already made their goal and have moved on in their development journeys (but haven't made beta yet). Join us past the break for the inaugural Make My MMO, a biweekly accounting of all MMOs crowdfunded. Have you heard about new campaigns that aren't listed? Send us a note and let us know!

8 Bit Studios describes its new MOBA, Skara: The Blade Remains, as "an experience with the action of Street Fighter inside a story and land like World of Warcraft, all blended into a fast-paced Call of Duty style arena." If you're not sure what that looks like in action, well, neither are we. Luckily for our strained imaginations, 8 Bit has just released its first Skara gameplay trailer. The video showcases some of the title's arena combat, with the 8 Bit team noting that this trailer reflects the status of the game after around five months of development. With 19 days and £135,000 ($200,000-ish) to go on its Kickstarter campaign, Skara has a ways to go before reaching its funding goal. Check out the trailer after the break. "Imagine an experience with the action of Street Fighter inside a story and land like World of Warcraft, all blended into a fast-paced Call of Duty style arena." That's how 8 Bit Studios describes its newest MOBA Kickstarter project entitled Skara: The Blade Remains. Skara looks to be high on the action with combat based on actual attack directions and multiplayer combos. This Kickstarter campaign has just begun, but offers some exciting rewards, including a digital copy of the game as low as the £15 tier. Check out the project page and the informative video -- featuring some pretty sweet dev facial hair -- just after the jump. [Thanks to Alex for the tip!]
