To be frank, we've a hard time understanding why Nokia wouldn't showcase this gem at its recent Nokia World expo if it were indeed nearing release, but whatever the case, we've received a number of tips suggested that the OLED-packin' handset could be formally introduced as early as next month. Falling within the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/06/nokias-8800-outdoes-itself-again-with-diamond-studded-edition/">8xxx series</a>, this ultrathin, ultra-shiny slider boasts a stainless steel design, A-GPS, 3G support, a 2.4-inch QVGA (320 x 240) display, WiFi, USB, 5 megapixel camera (with video recording) and 8GB of internal storage. Feel free to have a look for yourself, but just in case this all proves to be nothing more than a figment of some guy's imagination, you should probably fall in love with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/x6/">X6</a> as well. <br />

Despite the incredible popularity of videogaming, there's still a stigma attached by many to those who play them, thinking gamers fat or lazy and generally not good people to be around. For anyone sensitive to those criticisms, the Cool8800C offers an escape, looking like a perfectly normal <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/kirf">imitation</a> of Nokia's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/8800">8800</a> on the outside, but, like a transformer that runs illegal ROMs, quickly changes into a portable gaming console in disguise. Flip it open to reveal a full D-pad and four input buttons plus a 2.8-inch WQVGA LCD for playing emulated NES games or watching analog TV, or snap it shut to make use of its VGA camera and 900/1800MHz GSM connection. No, it's not likely this one is destined for release anywhere too far outside of China, meaning you, dear reader, are probably going to have to come out of the closet with that gaming addiction of yours already.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2009/03/04/curious-flipphone-re.html">Boing Boing Gadgets</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/cool8800c-1/">Cool8800C</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/cool8800c-1/#1410020"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/cool8800c01-20090305_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/cool8800c-1/#1410021"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/cool8800c02-20090305_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/cool8800c-1/#1410022"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/cool8800c03-20090305_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/cool8800c-1/#1410023"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/cool8800c04-20090306_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/cool8800c-1/#1410024"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/03/cool8800c05-20090306_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/games/" rel="tag">Games</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/06/cool8800c-handset-says-kirf-on-the-outside-player-games-on-th/">Cool8800C handset says KIRF on the outside, "Player Games" on the inside</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 06 Mar 2009 06:02:00 EST. How do you improve on a phone that's already been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/06/nokias-8800-outdoes-itself-again-with-diamond-studded-edition/">diamond-studded</a>, layered in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/19/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/">carbon fiber</a>, and then <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/22/nokia-gold-arte-8800-says-gold-is-not-enough/">dipped in gold</a>? Why, you add <em>more</em> diamonds and some hints of gratuitous platinum, of course. Meet the Nokia Royal Edition, an 8800 that succeeds its predecessors in terms of pretentiousness -- but not necessarily in looks. It has 1160 wee diamonds around the edges and platinum plates on the fore and aft, all surrounding the same internals as those other, plebeian fashionphones. Only 50 of these will be sold at an undisclosed price that surely is equally excessive.<br /><br />[Thanks, Robin]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/symbian/" rel="tag">Symbian</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/29/nokias-8800-gets-more-bling-more-expensive-more-ugly/">Nokia's 8800 gets more bling, more expensive, more ugly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 08:31:00 EST. It has 1160 wee diamonds around the edges and platinum plates on the fore and aft, all surrounding the same internals as those other, plebeian fashionphones. Only 50 of these will be sold at an undisclosed price that surely is equally excessive.<br /><br />[Thanks, Robin]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/29/nokias-8800-gets-more-bling-more-expensive-more-ugly/">Nokia's 8800 gets more bling, more expensive, more ugly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 08:31:00 EST. We're hearing from a source -- a source who's pegged big stuff before, we'd like to add -- that Sprint will be replacing its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/03/sprint-launches-blackberry-8830-world-edition/">BlackBerry 8830</a> this quarter with a CDMA version of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Bold/">Bold</a>. The move would certainly make sense, seeing how the Bold is essentially a direct replacement for the 8800 series (though this could be bad news for those who appreciate the 8830's camera-less nature) and the handset's probably just about due for a refresh. We're told that the Bold will feature EV-DO Rev. A, more memory, and a revised UI to match Sprint's current corporate branding. We'd also guess that it's a global phone in the same vein as the 8830 and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Storm/">Storm</a>, though we don't know that for certain. More as we get it!<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rim/" rel="tag">RIM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/02/fun-rumor-du-jour-blackberry-bold-coming-to-sprint-this-quarter/">Fun rumor du jour: BlackBerry Bold coming to Sprint this quarter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 02 Jan 2009 18:14:00 EST. You probably weren't expecting yet another luxury model of Nokia's long-lived <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/8800/">8800</a> fashionphone, right? Well, the company continues to prove its dedication to the crazily expensive slider with its newest model, the Gold Arte. This precious puppy is dipped in 18-carat gold <em>and</em> has white leather on the front and back -- just in case the gold wasn't enough to prove its owners are living on the edge of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/30/pure-gold-pc-is-just-what-you-think-it-is/">obnoxious ostentation</a>. Other than its looks, you can expect the newest 8800 to be pretty much identical to its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/19/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/">Carbon Arte predecessor</a>, with 3G, 4GB of flash memory, an OLED display and a 3.2 megapixel camera. We don't know exactly when it's slated for release in Europe, but we expect it to carry a pretty "impressive" price tag.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/The-Arte-family-has-a-new-Gold-member-article-a_3622.html">Phone Arena</a>]</div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/22/nokia-gold-arte-8800-says-gold-is-not-enough/">Nokia Gold Arte 8800 says "gold is not enough"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 22 Dec 2008 13:38:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/N85/">N85</a> at retail in October? Yeah, sounds totally believable, especially considering that an October release would give the populace enough time to wrangle one for the holidays, the fact that Nokia's known to be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/13/nokia-promises-to-spill-details-on-two-new-handsets-next-week/">revealing two hotties this month</a>, and that the date comes from none other than Mobile-review's scoop-tastic Eldar Murtazin. A graphic scored by Murtazin has the N85 and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/19/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/">just-announced Carbon Arte variant</a> of the 8800 series both slated for grand entrances in the tenth month of the year. One, we stand a fighting chance of affording; the other, just like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/13/nokias-8800-arte-and-sapphire-arte-for-the-nouveau-riche/">Artes of old</a>, probably not.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gsmhelpdesk.nl/en/read-rss.php?id=3098">Mobile Phone Helpdesk</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/symbian/" rel="tag">Symbian</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/19/nokia-n85-8800-carbon-arte-slated-for-october-release/">Nokia N85, 8800 Carbon Arte slated for October release?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 19 Aug 2008 18:01:00 EST. Besides the RAZR, few handsets have milked longevity like Nokia's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/8800">8800</a> slider -- first introduced in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/04/07/the-nokia-8800-fashionphone/">April 2005</a> (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/03/15/nokias-new-8000-series-handset/">spied in March</a>). Unlike RAZR, however, the 8800 somehow manages not to annoy... too much. The latest Carbon Arte model brings 3G, a 3.2 megapixel camera, 4GB of flash memory, and OLED display with anti-fingerprint coating. Fine, but it's the rocket-esque carbon fiber, titanium, and stainless steel materials that help push the price tag to &euro;1,100 (that's about $1,600) <em>before</em> taxes and of course, carrier subsidies. Expected to brazenly appear in the smoking dens of Europe's finest gentlemens' clubs sometime in Q3.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/19/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/">Nokia's 8800 Carbon Arte takes luxury to the moon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 19 Aug 2008 02:58:00 EST. Expected to brazenly appear in the smoking dens of Europe's finest gentlemens' clubs sometime in Q3.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/">Nokia's 8800 Carbon Arte takes luxury to the moon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/#985358"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/8800carbon_arte_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/#985175"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/nokia-8800-carbon-arte-8800carbonarte_10-19aug08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/#985179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/nokia-8800-carbon-arte-8800carbon_arte_01-19aug08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/#985181"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/nokia-8800-carbon-arte-8800carbon_arte_02-19aug08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/#985177"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/nokia-8800-carbon-arte-8800carbon_arte_03-19aug08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/19/nokias-8800-carbon-arte-takes-luxury-to-the-moon/">Nokia's 8800 Carbon Arte takes luxury to the moon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 19 Aug 2008 02:58:00 EST. <font face="sans-serif">Sure, it's all well and good to play around with the <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/folding@home">Folding@Home</a> client on toys like the PS3, but if you're really serious about out-nerding the rest of the pack, you need big-boy hardware, like this 51-card NVIDIA-based rig built by nitteo of the overclock.net forums. Okay, we'd like to issue a retraction here. That Nokia 8800 we called "diamond-studded" <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/06/nokias-8800-outdoes-itself-again-with-diamond-studded-edition/">earlier this month</a> is actually just "diamond-accented." <em>This</em>, however, is patently studded. Crafted by designer Peter Aloisson, the 8800 Arte Pink is quite literally covered in 18-karat white gold and encrusted with over 680 pink and white diamonds. Best of all, the totally obtainable handset is being offered now to the peons of the world for a mere &euro;85,000 ($131,673). A bona fide bargain, we tell ya.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2008/06/nokia_8800_arte_pink.html">Ubergizmo</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/19/peter-aloisson-gives-nokia-8800-a-131-000-diamond-studded-makeo/">Peter Aloisson gives Nokia 8800 a $131,000 diamond-studded makeover</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 19 Jun 2008 16:11:00 EST. Crave UK had a chance to check out <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/13/nokias-8800-arte-and-sapphire-arte-for-the-nouveau-riche/">Nokia's 8800 Arte and Sapphire Arte</a> luxury sliders recently, and the reviewer discovered one... uh, "feature" of the Sapphire model not shared by its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/14/hands-on-with-the-nokia-8800-arte/">cheaper (but still very, very pricey) sibling</a>. The box -- it's <em>colossal</em>. Not for any reason, mind you; no, Nokia just saw fit to line up the accessories contained within in a very linear, spaced-out fashion. Pretty weird for a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/26/nokia-gets-nod-for-being-green/">Greenpeace-praised</a> company with an obsession for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/13/nokias-remade-concept-is-all-waste-no-seriously/">everything</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/04/nokias-eco-friendly-3110-evolve/">environmental</a>, isn't it?<br /><br />[Thanks, T.I.]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/misc/" rel="tag">Misc</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/19/nokia-8800-sapphire-artes-box-exudes-modesty-efficiency/">Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte's box exudes modesty, efficiency</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 19 Mar 2008 11:36:00 EST. Multifunction <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/pnd">PNDs</a> are starting to hit the low end of the price spectrum, which is always welcome -- check out G-Sol's Marbella 8800 nav unit, which sports PMP functions, AV-in, and a 2 megapixel digital camera for a wholesale price of $160. That means the retail price will probably be around $200, but you're actually getting a decent piece of kit -- there's a SiRF Star III GPS chip in there, which is pretty respectable. Of course, some eager wholesaler's got to be willing to bring this bad boy to the States first, but hey -- that could be you, if you're ready to fence a couple thousand of these a month.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.navigadget.com/index.php/2008/02/25/marbella-nav-8800/">Navigadget</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gps/" rel="tag">GPS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/25/marbella-8800-pnd-is-cheap-versatile/">Marbella 8800 PND is cheap, versatile</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 25 Feb 2008 14:42:00 EST. From afar, it's really, really hard to understand the concept of a &euro;1,000 (about $1,470) cellphone. Touch one, though, and it starts to make sense. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/13/nokias-8800-arte-and-sapphire-arte-for-the-nouveau-riche/">8800 Arte</a> -- the latest in a long line of luxury phones from Nokia dating all the way back to the trick 8110 "Matrix phone" in the mid 90s -- is a feast for the senses, thanks in no small part to a simply gorgeous 2 inch full color OLED display front and center. Of course, it also helps that the 8800 Arte once again sets a standard for quality materials and craftsmanship in Nokia's line, featuring perhaps the most satisfying slide mechanism we've ever had the pleasure of actuating. Put simply, this little beast feels as though it's crafted from a single hunk of metal, and indeed, that's probably not too far from the truth. The 3.2 megapixel camera is decent for a phone of its size and target demographic, and the same can be said of the 1GB of integrated storage; if it weren't for the lack of US 3G, we'd be just a hair away from being able to fully justify the monstrous price tag. For most of us, these gallery shots will be as close as we ever get to an 8800 Arte, so savor them, won't you?<br /><br /><a href="http://www.wirelessimports.com/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="0" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/07/wireless-imports-logo-sm.jpg" alt="" /></a>Thanks to the good folks at <a href="http://www.wirelessimports.com/">Wireless Imports</a> for the hookup!<br /><br /><br /><strong></strong><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-nokia-8800-arte/">Hands-on with the Nokia 8800 Arte</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-nokia-8800-arte/#580197"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/01/nokia-8800-arte-hands-on-00_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-nokia-8800-arte/#580204"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/01/nokia-8800-arte-hands-on-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-nokia-8800-arte/#580206"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/01/nokia-8800-arte-hands-on-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-nokia-8800-arte/#580209"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/01/nokia-8800-arte-hands-on-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-nokia-8800-arte/#580221"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/01/nokia-8800-arte-hands-on-04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/14/hands-on-with-the-nokia-8800-arte/">Hands-on with the Nokia 8800 Arte</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 14 Jan 2008 10:28:00 EST. Not even two months after NVIDIA tempted gamers on a budget with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/29/nvidia-debuts-cooler-cheaper-smaller-geforce-8800-gt/">GeForce 8800 GT</a>, the outfit has loosed a new beast just in time for those eleventh hour holiday shoppers. Based on 65-nanometer fabrication, the 8800 GTS 512MB boasts 128 stream processors, twin dual-link DVI ports, PureVideo HD technology, DirectX 10 support, a 650MHz core clock / 970MHz memory clock and hardware decode acceleration for smooth playback of "H.264, VC-1, WMV and MPEG-2 HD and SD movies." According to the company, this card provides some 25-percent more processing power than NVIDIA products previously offered at the same price point, which, if you're wondering, is around $299 to $349.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.hothardware.com/Articles/NVIDIA_GeForce_8800_GTS_Refresh_Asus_and_XFX/">HotHardware</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/11/nvidia-reveals-geforce-8800-gts-512mb/">NVIDIA reveals GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 11 Dec 2007 10:43:00 EST. <div align="left">Well, it's nice to see <a href="http://engadgetmobile.com/tag/nokia">Nokia</a> potentially on the verge of outing a new and likely pricey handset, purportedly dubbed the 8900. Of course, Nokia is well known for some of its other fancy sets in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/20/up-close-with-the-nokia-8800-sirocco-edition/">this line</a>, and while usually a wee bit weak in the feature department, they make up for it with lovely style and slick material choices. If the pics are to be trusted -- and between you, me, and the hedge, they often are -- this winsome slider sports a shooter in the front -- which likely translates to 3G under the hood -- and a 3.2 megapixel cam 'round the other side. Not much else is known about the rumored Nokia 8900, but we'll hopefully hear some mumblings in the near future.</div>

Unlike some <a href="http://gaming.engadget.com/tag/phantom/">companies</a> we've <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/20/ls-quad-core-laptop-with-24-hour-battery-will-ship-when-heck-fr/">seen</a>, it appears that Commodore Gaming is actually keeping <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/06/commodore-set-to-introduce-high-end-gaming-pcs/">its word</a>, as the company has just now released the final details on its lineup of flashy US-bound gaming rigs. The Cg, Cgs, Cgx, and Cxx machines progress gradually from least extreme to highly 1337, and all four can be customized to suit your every fantasy. To give you an idea of what's on tap (if you've got the coin), the Cxx packs a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 processor, twin 500GB 7,200RPM hard drives in a RAID 0 array, 2GB of Corsair RAM, DVD-RW optical drive, an 850-watt power supply, Creative's Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card, Windows Vista, and dual 768MB NVIDIA GeForce <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/03/nvidia-geforce-8800-ultra-reviewed/">8800 Ultra</a> GPUs to boot. As far as pricing goes, word on the street is that the base system will start out around $1,700, but we'll know for sure when these come stateside in Q3.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9743582-1.html?part=rss&amp;tag=feed&amp;subj=Crave">CNET</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/12/commodore-unveils-lineup-of-us-bound-gaming-desktops/">Commodore unveils lineup of US-bound gaming desktops</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 12 Jul 2007 23:31:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=HIPE+PC">HiPe PC</a> is no stranger to the land of excessive power and unorthodox construction, and the firm's latest two gaming rigs are no exception to either. The K-Tana 2.0 can come stocked with your choice of an overclocked 3.2GHz Intel <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=Core%202%20Quad">Core 2 Quad</a> Extreme or dual liquid-cooled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/AM/">AM</a>D Athlon FX-72 / FX-74 processors, an overclocked NVIDIA <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=8800">8800</a> SLI graphics setup, 1,200-watt power supply, up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM, up to 4TB of HDD storage, acoustical dampening, colored neon lighting systems, and the ability to order up a customized paint scheme if the early 90s vibe isn't really workin' for you. The real head-scratcher is the Daish? 2.0 Dual PC (shown after the jump), which as the name implies, sports a duo of networked PCs within a single vertical chassis. The primary PC is a GeForce 8800-equipped gaming rig with up to 4GB of RAM and 4TB of HDD space, while the secondary computer is a "personal media center or server" powered by either VIA's Epia C7 or Intel's Merom processor. Additionally, the secondary unit is connected to a motorized touchscreen LCD and responds to your voice thanks to the included speech recognition software. Notably, both machines can be configured to include a Blu-ray writer, and while both systems manage to start around $2,600, the sky really is the limit when adding in luxurious extras.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/04/hipe-intros-k-tana-2-0-gaming-rig-two-in-one-daisho-2-0-dual-pc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HiPe intros K-Tana 2.0 gaming rig, two-in-one Daisho 2.0 Dual PC</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/04/hipe-intros-k-tana-2-0-gaming-rig-two-in-one-daisho-2-0-dual-pc/">HiPe intros K-Tana 2.0 gaming rig, two-in-one Daisho 2.0 Dual PC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 04 Jun 2007 18:54:00 EST. Really, it's hard for us to imagine sticking anything as loud and power hungry as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=%22GeForce+8800+GTX%22">GeForce 8800 GTX</a> into our precious desktop, no matter how great the latest games look on it, and we're having an even harder time envisioning <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/NVIDIA">NVIDIA</a>'s new 8800 Ultra anywhere near our motherboard. The new children-eating card starts at $829, and includes premium versions of the GTX's components, overclocked to fairly unreasonable degrees: a 612MHz core clock, 1500MHz shader clock and 1080MHz memory clock. Unfortunately, all that Ultra-ness only leads to a 10-15% performance increase, which isn't horrible, but hardly worth ditching your current 8800 GTX SLI setup for a couple of Ultras. But if that's not enough to dissuade you, or if you've been holding out for the best of the best from NVIDIA, you can pick one of these up around May 15th.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/02/nvidias-overclocked-geforce-8800-ultra-debuts/">NVIDIA's overclocked GeForce 8800 Ultra debuts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 02 May 2007 11:56:00 EST. Well look at what our favorite (and speedy) parcel carrier dropped off at our door today -- it's the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rim/">BlackBerry</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/23/t-mobiles-blackberry-8800-now-available/">8800 for T-Mobile</a>. For your viewing pleasure, we took some unboxing pics of T-Mobile's latest 'Berry in all its svelteness. Even though the specs are nothing new, we'll run 'em down one more time -- quadband GSM / EDGE, expandable memory via microSD, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=myfaves">myFaves</a> support, and BlackBerry's <em><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/20/rim-chalks-up-blackout-to-insufficient-testing/">reliable</a> </em>network. Right on cue, T-Mobile; nicely done. The BlackBerry 8800 is <a href="http://w2ww.engadgetmobile.com/2007/04/20/blackberry-8800-hits-t-mobile-on-monday/">now available</a> on T-Mobile's website to anyone will to plunk down the requisite cash, though word has it brick and mortar stores won't be seeing them for a little while yet. The price? A penny shy of $350 after instant discount -- a princely sum, yes, but can you really put a price on BlackBerry nirvana?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rim/" rel="tag">RIM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/t-mobile/" rel="tag">T-Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/23/t-mobiles-blackberry-8800-now-available/">T-Mobile's BlackBerry 8800 now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 23 Apr 2007 15:10:00 EST. AT&amp;T may have had first dibs, but all told, the wait T-Mobile peeps will have had to endure won't be that bad at all. The T-Mobile-branded BlackBerry 8800 hits the nation's number four carrier this coming Monday, April 23, bringing <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/09/07/blackberry-pearl-official/">Pearl</a>-like style to the more traditional (read: non-<a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=suretype">SureType</a>) form factor preferred by many. Just like its AT&amp;T sibling, T-Mobile's 8800 will obviously top out with EDGE data on all four GSM bands and offer microSD expansion, a media player, Bluetooth 2.0, full HTML web browsing, and a variety of instant messaging clients. Unlike other 8800s, though, T-Mobile's offers <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/search/?q=myfaves">myFaves</a> support -- a decidedly personal feature for a decidedly business-oriented handset, we reckon (not to suggest we're complaining, of course). Look for it Monday through "select channels" including the carrier's website; no word yet on when it'll be a commodity item in brick-and-mortar stores.<br /> <br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/20/blackberry-8800-hits-t-mobile-on-monday/">BlackBerry 8800 hits T-Mobile on Monday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2007 10:46:00 EST. It seems pretty un-Nokia to us for official variants of one of its phones <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/14/nokia-responsible-for-8800-sirocco-gold/">to hit retail shops</a> before we hear an announcement out of Espoo, but it appears that's exactly what has happened here. The 8800 Sirocco Gold is, as one might expect, merely a gold-hued version of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/09/nokia-re-ups-8800-specs-with-sirocco-edition/">8800 Sirocco</a>, combining almost-Vertu style and craftsmanship, almost-Vertu pricing, and a shiny yellow case for those times when neither silver nor black sufficiently express its owner's "my phone's more expensive than yours" attitude. Look for it to hit "select markets" (which we think excludes the US on account of the lack of GSM 850) bundled with a matching headset and desk stand for &euro;1000 (about $1,355).<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/18/nokia-8800-sirocco-gold-is-the-real-deal/">Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold is the real deal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 18 Apr 2007 15:24:00 EST. There are any number of shops around the world that'll happily <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/29/nokia-8800-sirocco-edition-diamonds-vertu-price-tag/">apply some excessive opulence</a> to a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/09/nokia-re-ups-8800-specs-with-sirocco-edition/">8800 Sirocco Edition</a> for the appropriate amount of coin, but is Nokia itself getting in the game? This "Sirocco Gold" looks legit enough -- as does its packaging -- and rumors are swirling that the phone is now available in select corners of the world. One of those corners is eBay's German outpost, where an alleged Sirocco Gold can be had for the princely sum of &euro;1,199 (about $1,620), which by our calculations puts the handset within shouting distance of lower-end (ha!) Vertus. Still haven't scraped together enough change to get yourself a fancy new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/8800">8800</a>? Well just wait 10 more days and you can get (a little bit of) that hip-cool technology for peanuts. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/02/nvidias-geforce-8600-series-brings-dx10-without-breaking-the-ba/">GeForce 8600</a> GTS, 8600 GT and 8500 GT are all due on April 17th, hitting at the $199-$229, $149-$159 and $89-$129 price points, respectively. Specs scale nicely, with 256MB of GDDR3, a 675MHz core clock and a 1000MHz memory clock at the top end, on down to the 128 to 256MB DDR2 or GDDR3, 450MHz core clock and 700MHz memory clock at the bottom. Before too long, the even more basic 8400 GS and 8300 GS will round out the set, but hopefully you won't have to stoop that low to get your DirectX 10 on.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/09/nvidia-geforce-8600-and-8500-launch-deets-outed/">NVIDIA GeForce 8600 and 8500 launch deets outed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 09 Apr 2007 21:05:00 EST. Could this devilishly winsome Nokia device be the successor to the much loved (but grossly overpriced) Nokia <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/29/nokia-8800-sirocco-edition-diamonds-vertu-price-tag/">8800</a>, the rumored (and potentially cheaper) Nokia 8600 "Luna," or something else entirely? It's clearly a slider, but we lack pics of the business side of the device to get a feel for what it really has to offer as far as keyboard and other goodies go. Also no word on specs dates prices or carrier info in here, folks -- this is purely eye candy -- but we will hopefully see more of this little mystery in the not so distant future.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://justamp.blogspot.com/2007/04/new-nokia-8600-pics.html">Just Another Mobile Phone Blog</a>, thanks David and Yogev]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/02/new-nokia-spied-could-it-be-the-8800s-successor/">New Nokia spied; could it be the 8800's successor?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 02 Apr 2007 16:18:00 EST. Sure, we've all heard those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/alienware-launches-most-powerful-area-51-m9750-laptop/">short-lived</a> (or outright absurd) claims of a world's <a href="http://laptops.engadget.com/2005/11/11/compamerica-orca-9098-the-latest-most-powerful-laptop-on">most powerful laptop</a>, and the term "desktop replacement" has been around the block a few too many times, but a Taiwanese manufacturer is doing the not-so-unthinkable yet again. The Clevo D900c (which could likely be rebadged as a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2004/09/29/gear-eye-the-sager-3790-laptop/">Sager</a> 9260 and / or Pro-Star 9191D) is a 17-inch monster that packs quite a wallop under the presumably toasty hood, including an option for Intel's Core 2 Duo processors, dual 1GB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8800 graphics cards, up to 4GB of RAM, up to three hard drives in a RAID 0/1/5 array, 7.1-channel audio, built-in stereo speakers, the ability to house dual optical drives, integrated TV tuner, 1.3-megapixel webcam, and a flash card reader to boot. You'll also find a smorgasbord of ports and connectivity options, including WiFi, Bluetooth, FireWire, 56k modem, USB 2.0, and DVI / S-video outputs. Of course, with horsepower like this, we highly doubt the 12-cell Li-ion will last much over an hour (if that) under full strain, but we're fairly certain you won't be using this 11.9-pound beast solely on your lap much at all. We know you're wondering, so if you've been eying a mobile gaming rig and have around $2,700 (or much more for the juiced version) laying around, you can snag one sometime in the April / May timeframe.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3566">NotebookReview</a>, thanks Andrew]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/13/clevo-d900c-laptop-touts-core-2-duo-extreme-sli-nvidia-8800s/">Clevo D900C laptop touts Core 2 Duo Extreme, SLI NVIDIA 8800s</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 13 Mar 2007 10:56:00 EST. Sure, the details vary a little bit from jeweler to jeweler, but the result is always the same: a standard-issue phone that's been taken to excessively opulent extremes thanks to an excess of gems and rare earth elements. This time around, the phone is Nokia's already expensive <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/04/07/the-nokia-8800-fashionphone/">8800</a>, and the culprit is ISSE of Russia. The handset is naturally covered in gold or silver, while optional heated enamel can add a shade of color to the phone that takes away any resemblance of precious metal. Tack on a few carats of diamonds, rubies, garnets, or whatever, slap it in a box made of "rare timber," and call it good. In our opinion, any self-respecting individual with too much cash for their own good would <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/29/nokia-8800-sirocco-edition-diamonds-vertu-price-tag/">seek out</a> the newer <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/09/nokia-re-ups-8800-specs-with-sirocco-edition/">Sirocco Edition</a> of the 8800, but that's just us.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.unwiredview.com/2007/03/02/isse-monaco-phones-nokia-8800-in-gold-platinum-and-diamonds/">Unwired View</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/04/russias-isse-makes-nokia-8800s-even-pricier/">Russia's ISSE makes Nokia 8800s even pricier</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 04 Mar 2007 12:08:00 EST. A feature notoriously missing from RIM's range, WiFi is one add-on we can pretty much all agree would make the average BlackBerry user's life noticeably better. We'd heard rumblings ahead of the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/02/12/rims-blackberry-8800-launched/">8800's</a> release that Canada's newest handset would sport some manner of 802.11 out of the box, but alas -- the release came and went with no 2.4GHz (or 5GHz, for that matter) goodness in sight, allegedly due to technical glitches on RIM's side that the company was unwilling to delay the initial model for. No worries, though -- well, maybe a few worries if you're <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/02/21/blackberry-8800-now-on-cingular/">AT&amp;T</a> and you're trying to push the 8800 out the door -- the <a href="http://moblogs.engadgetmobile.com/2007/02/16/blackberry-8800-wifi-8820/">WiFi-enabled 8820</a> looks pretty official now thanks to a cameo in RIM's latest BlackBerry OS offering. Other changes should be minimal from its predecessor; a camera still isn't in the cards, leaving shutterbugs who like their BlackBerry served QWERTY style up the same creek they are now. No word on a release, but rumblings have the device launching mid-year.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/wireless/" rel="tag">Wireless</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/21/latest-blackberry-os-confirms-8820-with-wifi/">Latest BlackBerry OS confirms 8820 with WiFi</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 21 Feb 2007 13:02:00 EST. He got us those <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/23/boy-genius-drops-shots-of-the-blackberry-8800/">original BlackBerry 8800 shots</a>, so we're guessing these unboxing pics of the phone here were no sweat for Boy Genius. We still can't claim to be crazy about the device, which <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/12/rims-blackberry-8800-launched/">launched last week</a>, but we're sure plenty of suits will be glad to replace their aging CrackBerries with this fancy new QWERTY version. As a side note -- could Cingular's boxes <em>be</em> any more boring?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/20/cingulars-blackberry-8800-unboxed/">Cingular's BlackBerry 8800 unboxed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 20 Feb 2007 11:08:00 EST.
