An assortment of Mario games at 30 percent off isn't a bad way to do Black Friday, but the eShop really gets into the mood with Shin Megami Tensei 4. The 3DS JRPG is just $30 until December 2, an top price for what we called "a great entry point" to the Atlus series. If we had you at "Mario games at 30 percent off," let's fill you in on the details. Both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2 feature, while Super Mario Land 2 and Mario & Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move are also discounted on the 3DS eShop, and Super Mario World and the original Mario Bros. get price dips on the Wii U eShop. We'd say there's no better time to revisit SMB2 then after playing Super Mario 3D World - gotta love that floaty Peach. If you're done with discounts and just want the new stuff. we've got that, too - including the first batch of the long-time-coming Sega 3D Classics, and episodes 1-10 of Pokemon: BW Rival Destinies. Head past the break for the full rundown of newly-released games.

As eShop weeks go, this one's a bit spectacular. A new five-star Zelda? Check! A new five-star Mario? Check again! What's more, you'll be able to download them as soon as today becomes tomorrow, midnight sharp. Wait, you want more? You're genuinely not satisfied with Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, both games we awarded five stars to? Really? Not even if we chuck in a week-long sale that lasers 30 percent off Mega Man 1-4 on 3DS and Wii U? Surely you aren't that greedy? Fine.... fine. Fine. Be like that. Let's go through the whole list already.

  • Walmart celebrates Black Friday a week early, extends Christmas price match

All Walmart wants for Christmas is cold, hard cash, so the company is dropping tradition and offering the deals in its recent Black Friday ad to customers as early as 8AM on November 22. Notable deals found in the ad include a 4GB Xbox 360 console for $100, a PlayStation 3 with The Last of Us and Batman: Arkham Origins for $250 and a $100 2DS handheld. Many games are also discounted, including recent hits like Assassin's Creed 4, Battlefield 4 and Beyond: Two Souls. Why release an ad specifically created for a singled day of the year before that day has ever rolled around? Simply put, Wal Mart is employing an especially aggressive sales strategy to combat the relatively short amount of time it has to entice holiday shoppers. "Black Friday is our Super Bowl and we plan to win," stated the company's chief merchandising officer, Duncan Mac Naughton. "With six fewer days from Thanksgiving to Christmas, the retail environment is more competitive than ever. Every opportunity to get a great deal - whether this weekend, on Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday weekend - matters for our customers." Additionally, Wal Mart has revealed plans to extend its annual Christmas price matching promotion. Now, every item you purchase between November 1 and December 24 is eligible for a refund, assuming you find it included in any other stores' ads at a price cheaper than what Wal Mart's offering. Keep in mind however, that this deal does not apply to items purchased on Black Friday or Thanksgiving Day. This promotion also ignores items you've seen on Amazon or any other non-local retailer, removing the possibility of playing retailers off one another for massive savings. Update: An earlier version of this article mentioned a 250GB Xbox 360 on sale at $100. Walmart's sale is actually on a 4GB Xbox 360. We apologize for the confusion.

  • Target's buy two games, get one free sale spans all consoles

It turns out the previously-reported buy two, get one free sale at Target stretches across all major consoles, and is on now through Saturday, November 16. The sale includes games like Pokemon X and Y, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. We know what you're thinking: "What about all those launch games for PS4 and Xbox One that I want?" We filtered the platforms down on Target's sales page, and found that only four next-gen games are seemingly eligible for the sale: NBA 2K14 on PS3 and Battlefield 4, Fighter Within and Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One.

  • New Nintendo eShop releases: Wii Sports Club, Toki Tori, Wario's Woods, KORG M01D

There's a little something for everyone on the Nintendo eShop this week. The Wii U picks up Wii Sports Club (the epitome of "for everyone"), the original Toki Tori and the Virtual Console release of Wario's Woods. The 3DS also takes a trip to Wario's Woods, and it gets the eShop version of Kid Icarus: Uprising (which probably doesn't include that handy stand, for obvious reasons). If you're feeling a little more creative, you could try KORG M01D, a fully-featured music synthesizer program that lets you share your songs with other 3DS owners. You can even save the MIDI to the SD card so you can transfer it to a computer. And it wouldn't be a new week on the eShop without a sale on an Atlus game or two. From 9 a.m. PT on November 11 through 9 a.m. November 18, both Etrian Odyssey 4 and Code of Princess will be $10 off.

  • Report: Gamestop's Black Friday has exclusive bundles, blue PS3

Gamestop's Black Friday circular has supposedly leaked its thick, viscous deal-goo all over the internet, exposing the retail chain's plans for the most excruciating shopping day of the year – just don't expect any deals on that new PlayStation 4/Xbox One hotness. For everyone staying in this console generation, though, there's some cool stuff going on if you think leaving the house on Black Friday is worth it. You can have your choice of 250-gig PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 for $199.99, the former bundled with The Last of Us and Batman: Arkham Origins, and the latter bundled with Halo 4 and a download code for Tomb Raider. Meanwhile, a Gamestop-exclusive Azure Blue 250-gig PS3/Jak and Daxter Collection bundle can be had for $249.99. For 360 owners, there's also a Gamestop-exclusive Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City boxed set, Dishonored and Splinter Cell: Blacklist at $24.99 each. PlayStation 3 owners can snag Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag for $40 and a year of PlayStation Plus for $29.99. The chain is also running a buy-2-get-1 free promotion on all pre-owned items, provided the free thing you pick out is of equal or lesser value. Gamestop is also granting an additional 30-percent in-store credit on all trade-ins, though whether these two offers stack is unknown. There's a lot of other stuff on sale, so while we check on the trade-in value of a human soul, click all up on this to check out the full 12-page circular for yourself.

PC-owning fans of both comic books and sharp, angular blocks can now find a free demo of Lego Marvel Super Heroes on the game's official website. As Eurogamer points out, the demo is relatively short look at the game's virtual Manhattan but does include playable Iron Man and Hulk sections as well as appearances by Sandman and the Abomination. Developer TT Games announced the PC demo release during last weekend's New York Comic Con, alongside similar demos for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which should arrive later this week. Lego Marvel Super Heroes is slated for retail release on November 15, at which point you can find it on the Nintendo DS and 3DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Vita, Wii U and Windows platforms. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Lego Marvel Super Heroes are slated to be released as launch titles for those consoles.

Most of Nintendo's platforms are getting new games on the eShop this week, even the lonely DSi. Let's face it though, the only games that matter are Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. We declared the games "hands-down the best in the series," so Pokéfans will definitely want to pick those up. What else are you going to play, Tennis? Golf? No, really, the NES versions of Tennis and Golf are out on Wii U Virtual Console too.

Lima Sky's tilt-controlled mobile favorite Doodle Jump will hit the Nintendo DS and 3DS later this year in a pair of retail releases from Doodle Jump for Kinect developer Smoking Gun Interactive. Doodle Jump Adventures for the Nintendo 3DS boasts a platform-exclusive Adventure mode featuring 48 levels, unique power-ups, and all-new boss battles, in addition to an Endless Mode. The Nintendo DS version, Doodle Jump Journey, is a more traditional take on the series, offering up the original mobile game's Classic, Jungle, and Space themes in Endless Mode.

  • New Nintendo eShop releases: Just Dance 2014, Picross E3, Final Fight series

    by

    10.03.2013

Nintendo might be playing Trick or Treat a little early this year. Notable new eShop releases are relatively thin this week, with the highlights being Just Dance 2014 on Wii U (arriving October 8) and the new Picross E3 for 3DS. If you missed out on Sega's inventive Rhythm Thief last year, that's up on the eShop now as well. There is also, in fact, a game called Halloween: Trick or Treat 2, possibly a subtle hint from Nintendo that we haven't given it enough candy. But who needs big new games when you can get old games on the cheap? From now until 9am PT on October 10, those who pick up the newly released Wii U Virtual Console versions of Final Fight, Final Fight 2 or Final Fight 3 can get a second fighting game (from a limited selection) for half price. The promo doesn't appear to be live as of this writing, but you'll be able to find it right here. Finally, you can pick up the weirdly engrossing Little Inferno for half price until 9am PT on October 9.
