Lenovo IdeaCentre A300 and Multimedia Keyboard review
Lenovo seems to have developed a clear two-pronged strategy: for business, it leans on the knowhow and tradition it purchased from IBM with the demure Think line, and for the consumer end, it's developed its own, oftentimes flamboyant, Idea range of computers. Prime example of the latter is the IdeaCentre A300, which features an edge-to-edge glass screen, chrome accenting aplenty, and an unhealthily thin profile. As such, it's one of the more unashamed grabs for the hearts and minds of desktop aesthetes, so we had to bring it in for a test drive and see what we could see. Lenovo IdeaCentre A300 now on sale, offers less value for more money
If you set your heart on the sexy, swiveling Lenovo IdeaCentre A300 desktop when you saw it at CES, the time has come to lay down your cash -- the all-in-one PC is now available for order. It's kind of a shame that it'll take eighteen days to arrive on your doorstep after you write the check, and we're not terribly jazzed that there are only two last-gen Core 2 Duo Mobile configurations on offer for hundreds of dollars more than Lenovo originally promised, but hey -- form over function, right? Just make sure you opt for the $950 version if you plan to watch any LOST reruns on the glossy 21.5-inch screen, as Lenovo no longer includes a TV tuner in the base model. Yeah, what with the company calling it a "hi-def TV" and all, we're as surprised by that omission as you.
Lenovo IdeaCentre A300 and C310 hands-on
Given some of the more compact portables we've seen, world's thinnest all-in-one desktop is certainly debatable, but the curves on the Lenovo IdeaCentre A300 do give it an air of grace, as does the swivel. Throw in a clear screen and it's promising, but countering those kind words? Lots and lots of fingerprint-friendly gloss. We also got some time with the C310, which takes the traditional IdeaCentre all-in-one design and spruces it up a bit with a brown finish -- it's otherwise what you've come to expect, for better or for worse. Lenovo busts out IdeaCentre A300, IdeaPad S10-3t and plenty of other solid Ideas
Lenovo already treated us to a slew of new ThinkPad machines, and now it's time for the Idea line to get its due. Up first, we've got the IdeaCentre A300, which is hailed as the industry's thinnest all-in-one desktop. Measuring just 18.5mm deep, the 21.5-inch machine sports a 1080p LED panel, Core 2 Duo CPU, WiFi and a bundled Bluetooth keyboard / mouse. The IdeaPad S10-3t (shown above) is the industry's first multitouch capacitive netbook tablet, with Lenovo trumpeting the device's ability to easily recognize fingertip input and plow through chores with an Atom N470 CPU and a 320GB hard drive. Moving right along, the 14-inch Y460 and 15.6-inch Y560 offer up respectable multimedia performance on a budget, while the 20-inch Lenovo C310 goes down as the company's first multitouch all-in-one desktop. The Core i7-equipped IdeaCentre K320 caters to the gamers, and the G460 / G560 lappies are slated to suit those "mainstream" users who just need something basic to handle... well, the basics. Next-generation AMD CPUs come to Toshiba's Satellite family
In case it wasn't completely obvious already that Toshiba had a thing for AMD's latest line of notebook processors, here's all the confirmation you need. Tosh has just made official that the next-generation of Athlon, Turion and Turion Ultra CPUs will be "available throughout" its Satellite lineup. If you're hunting specifics, we're talkin' about the P300D, A300D, M300D, U400D, L300D and L350D series -- all of which are scheduled to go on sale sometime this summer from a variety of fine retailers.
Puma-based Toshiba Satellite A305 benchmarked and photographed
Well, would you look at this? Toshiba's Puma-equipped Satellite A305 hasn't even left the floor of Computex and it has already been benchmarked. Kudos to NotebookReview for snagging some quality hands-on / testing time with the 15.4-incher, which came stocked with a 2.1GHz CPU, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 320GB hard drive, dual-layer DVD writer, 1.3-megapixel camera and Windows Vista Home Premium. Toshiba redesigns four Satellite families, intros Sleep-and-Charge USB ports
Just in case a completely ho hum 17-incher wasn't enough to keep your attention this morning, Toshiba is trumpeting its "design prowess" by introducing four "re-imagined" Satellites. As of today, the 13.3-inch U400, 14.1-inch M300, 15.4-inch A300 (pictured) and 17-inch P300 have all been ever-so-slightly refreshed with the outfit's Fusion Finish, Feather-Touch multimedia keys, white LED accents and built-in Dolby Sound Room technology. Additionally, Tosh is unveiling its totally useful Sleep-and-Charge USB ports, which enable users to charge up their portable gadgetry via USB regardless of whether the laptop is powered on / off or in Sleep mode. Toshiba's Penryn-based Satellite A300 / P300 uncovered
Look out, here comes yet another duo hopping on the Penryn train, and each of these buggers are sporting a Toshiba logo. Up first is the €999 ($1,480) Satellite A300 -- the apparent successor of the A200 -- which features a 15.4-inch display, a refreshed design, Harman Kardon speakers, built-in fingerprint reader, 1.3-megapixel camera, integrated microphone, up to 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and your choice of a Core 2 Duo T5500 (A300-124) or T8100 (A300-11I). As for the 17-inch P300 (seen after the jump), you can reportedly expect somewhat similar configurations, but sadly, we've no hard details on price or availability for it.
Hands-on with Sony's new a300 and a350 DSLRs

Sony's new Alpha A300 and A350 get official
We knew they were coming, and here they are -- say hello to Sony's Alpha A300 and A350. The 10.2 megapixel A300 and 14.2 megapixel A350 are just as we'd heard, with flip-out 2.7-inch swivel screens and live preview that retains the ability to autofocus. The CompactFlash DSLRs also go up to ISO3200, and feature burst modes of 3fps (A300) and 2.5fps (A350). Both cams will hit in April, the A300 with a 18-70mm kit lens for $800, and the A350 in a $900 kit or an $800 body-only package. Sony A300 and A350 DSLRs with swivel-screen and live view leaked
With just days to go until PMA, it looks like security's starting to slip a little bit -- a little creative sonystyle.com URL trickery led Beline at the Dyxum forums to images of those Sony A300 and A350 DSLRs we'd heard about. The A300 is an update to the A200, adding in live preview and a flip-out swivel screen, while the A350 looks like it'll be a 14.2 megapixel unit and probably includes live preview and the swivel screen as well.
