When we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/10/is-this-the-zune-hd/">broke news and images</a> of the Zune HD back in April, we were more than a little excited. There had been talk -- and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/08/robbie-bach-says-no-zune-phone-no-xbox-blu-ray-maybe-a-touch/">rumor</a> -- of a widescreen, touchscreen Zune for some time, and seeing the fruits of Microsoft's labor made it clear that the company had done its homework. As time wore on and we reported on the official announcement, confirmation of NVIDIA's awesome Tegra chip inside, and news that the Zune Marketplace would extend into Xbox Live, we were downright giddy at the possibilities. Finally the much-anticipated, heavily lusted after micro-slab has been brought to market -- and it's not just the unit itself. Along with the release, we're seeing new desktop software, the Zune brand move towards a connected experience for Windows computers, and the expansion of the Zune Marketplace and ecosystem -- replete with applications designed just for the Zune HD interface.<br />
<br />
So the time has come for the Engadget review. Does the Zune HD finally match up with Microsoft's ambition, and can it stand up to the heat and ubiquity of the competition? Read on for all the answers.<br />

NVIDIA really has a technical wonder in the Tegra APX 2600 chipset, and is more than happy to show it off, with a myriad of tech demos on display here at MWC. Some of this they showed off <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/03/nvidia-shows-off-tegra-on-video/">back in June of last year</a>, but it's no less impressive -- there aren't really any mobile devices out there capable of this stuff right now. Still, we're here for the new, and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/16/nvidias-tegra-jumps-on-the-android-bandwagon/">NIVIDA showed up with Android</a> running on one of its proof-of-concept units, and with another unit pumping out 1080p video, with a claimed 10 hours of battery life at that task. NVIDIA says it took them just a few weeks to port Android to the system, and we found it already quite snappy and even usable on the capacitive touchscreen-ed device. We also saw the forthcoming Android-running Yulong N8 and IAC S2 Tegra APX phones, along with an untitled CompalCom set -- they were all in non-working prototype form, but it's clear this chipset isn't <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/16/nvidias-tegra-to-power-99-mids/">just for MIDs</a>. Check it all out in the videos after the break and the gallery below!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh/">NVIDIA's Tegra in the flesh</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh/#1365026"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/tegra-hands-001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh/#1365036"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/tegra-hands-002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh/#1365028"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/tegra-hands-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh/#1365035"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/tegra-hands-004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh/#1365019"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/tegra-hands-005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/17/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh-booting-to-android-and-pumping-out/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NVIDIA's Tegra in the flesh, booting to Android and pumping out 1080p video</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/17/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh-booting-to-android-and-pumping-out/">NVIDIA's Tegra in the flesh, booting to Android and pumping out 1080p video</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 10:02:00 EST. <div align="left">We've been hearing all kinds about NVIDIA's <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Tegra/">Tegra</a> the last couple weeks, and have all been quietly wishing and hoping that we'd see Android getting some action -- and we will, and how! Apparently while the initial focus is Windows Mobile, NVIDIA sees Android surpassing Windows Mobile sales into 2012 and has decided to put some serious grunt into the new OS's development. The <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/NVIDIA/">NVIDIA</a> Tegra 2600 part is being developed with an optimized and accelerated Android release aimed squarely at OEM development and set for release sometime in Q2 this year. We've no idea how long it takes from reference to finished-in-our-hands-product, but the briefing hints at a couple mystereious sets, the "IAC S2" in Q3 and a "Yulong N8" by Q4. This guy is under glass over at NVIDIA's H.Q. here at MWC, so expect more once we stroll over for a look-see. Few more pics after the break.</div>
