Even dogs took part in the cosplay activities at this year's Otakon convention, with Dante the dog here dressing in the divine garb of Okami's heroine, the goddess Amaterasu. If you have a white dog you'd like to style as Amaterasu (and who is a good boy like Dante -- good boy!) his owners detailed the process of making the costume on their blog. Happily, the whole thing was conceived from the perspective of what would be best for Dante; even the decision to bring him to Otakon in the first place was explained as "this was better for him than leaving him in a boarding place for five days." The whole post is full of tips and disclaimers about ensuring your dog's happiness and comfort while also making it look like a video game character. Basically, our hearts were warmed twice by this story. And then a third time when our eyes drifted back up to the picture.

After the break, we've got two new Marvel vs. Capcom 3 clips showing off the powerful, level-three hyper attacks from Super-Skrull and Amaterasu. Amaterasu is the palindrome dog-god from Okami, and Super-Skrull is the most delicious thing you can buy at Dunkin Donuts.

Marvel.com seems to have accidentally revealed two more Marvel vs. Capcom 3 characters ahead of time. Character art and screenshots depicting Thor and Okami's Amaterasu appeared in Marvel.com's gallery for the game, though it seems to have been taken down since. However, because sites like Omega-Level saved the images, and because you can see one in this very post, and because the Thor character art remains in Marvel's gallery at this moment, it doesn't really take much faith to believe in these two gods. We'll probably learn more details during tomorrow's MvC3 Comic-Con panel.

Someone in Japan has been waiting years for the Wii release of Okami, having let the PS2 release pass in 2006, and then watching the Wii port release everywhere but Japan in 2008. That hypothetical person's patience will be rewarded on October 15, when e-Capcom orders of the Japanese Wii version of Okami will ship with this Amaterasu phone (or DS) strap. It's totally worth the wait. It beats the "bonus" IGN watermark we got in North America, though the replacement art was certainly nice. In addition to the little porcelain Amaterasu, a limited number of Okami soundtrack discs will be handed out with the game.[Via Andriasang]

Even though it's the height of summer in the northern hemisphere, we want one of these. We wouldn't usually post items from Etsy that have already sold out, but then we don't see too many Okami hats cluttering up the internets. This fine head garment, featuring Okami protagonist Amaterasu, reportedly took around five hours to complete, and was crafted from polar fleece. And we want one. Did we say that already?Let's hope somebody out there can nag seller riomccarthy into making more![Via Capcom Blog]

If you've preordered Okami (from the Capcom Store, that is), Capcom has gone out of its way to reward your loyalty. You can expect some goodies in the mail soon (you lucky dogs), including a thank-you card embedded with seeds. That means you can either save the card in a shoebox full of mementos from your fondest Capcom memories (with "Mr." or "Mrs. Capcom" written on the lid), or actually plant the card and watch it grow. You will have something nice to save though -- mainly, the sweet Amaterasu postage stamp on the envelope. Lastly, the company will also be sending you a coupon code for free shipping on a future purchase. Well done, Capcom! What a great way to show appreciation for your fans.[Via Kotaku]

Dogs are no stranger to being a part of cosplay, but we'll be darned if this version of Amaterasu from Okami doesn't just take the biscuit. Bonus points for the dog looking fairly cute, and pretty darn patient with the whole thing. Also, with the whole wolf connection, it's a lot less creepy than dressing your dog like Yoda. Look too excited by the state of affairs the Jedi canine does not. They should bring this little wolf to Seattle to help rock the scene.
